"Look somewhere else!"
Version: Norton Internet Security 2013 20.1
Pros
Fast install. Installed in about 1 minute.
Cons
After installing it I decided to run a full scan. While it was running I had to run an errand. When I got back, I went to check the scan and it didn't even scan 9,000 items, and the scanner was just "hanging there." Not doing nothing. So, I went to stop the scan, and it wouldn't close. It just kept hanging. I tried closing the whole Norton screen by right clicking on the task bar to shut it down, but still it wouldn't. I then tried shutting down the pc the normal way and it still wouldn't close or shut down.
I finally had to manly shut down the pc.
I went into safe mode to uninstall it with revo uninstaller. It took quite some time, but I finally got it removed, and I booted into windows, and then to make sure all was completely uninstalled I ran Norton removal tool.Summary
I'm usually pretty open-minded about software. But, it seems everytime I've run a Norton product (exception would be with Norton 360), I've had issues. I was disappointed.

"NIS 2013 is no good"
Version: Norton Internet Security 2013 20.1
Pros
It is almost like NIS 2012 but that is where it ends
Cons
Can't import Identity Safe.
Can't get any support from chat or email.
Nathan (virtual tech) front ends everything even though you answer him that it is not relevant, you are still inundated with their lame solutions rather than alowing you to email the problem to them.
I am looking for a replacement after having NIS for a lot of years on a lot of computers I can't put up with the lack of help and customer support anymore. Ihave waited for their "CHAT" for 2 days and still am waitingSummary
They just lost a customer and I will be vocal enough to spread the word that NIS is no longer a product of choice, because they don't care

"Slows you down more than any previous Norton version"
Version: Norton Internet Security 2013 20.1
Pros
I've seen no difference in anti-virus abilities compared to other software.
Cons
I've always updated Norton Internet Security annually to the latest version. With the 2012 version I hardly noticed it was there, since it carried out its task while the computer was idle. However, ever since I've installed the 2013 version, there have occasionally been events where I've walked away from the computer for a while, then come back and hardly being able to do anything for several minutes because the processor is busy, with a box in the right lower corner of the display saying that Norton is currently performing background tasks.

"Seems to work just fine, although something slowed FRED"
Version: Norton Internet Security 2013 20.1
Pros
Again seems to work fine, although I wonder why it blocks all bugs. Have not had a detection that I could manually manage?? Start up is good including start up scan toggled on, shut down is good, nice link to facebook, scans are timely and easy, good interface and Good support.
Cons
Seems there are Better Internet Suits that work as well and provide Better protection. I have seen that there are many other user cons.
Summary
Likely switch soon. Anyone who reads this should check things out for themselves as I don't feel that I should be recommending other products in here.

"A step backwards from 2012"
Version: Norton Internet Security 2013 20.1
Pros
Appears to offer adequate protection from malware. Antispam pretty good but other stand-alone solutions are better. Relatively light on system resources.
Cons
Norton Identity Safe locks up all web browsers on which it is used, making it unusable. No fix appears to be available from Symantec as of this writing (November 2012).
Summary
NIS 2013 takes a step backwards from 2012 due to issues with Identity Safe. Finally uninstalled in favor of another solution.

"Can Spymantec go away please?"
Version: Norton Internet Security 2013 20.1
Pros
Nothing good can be said.
Cons
Automatically renews off your credit card, unsecure, has worse effects than most viruses, you have to pay for it, slows down the PC
Summary
Please be aware that I hate Norton with a passion, and am taking the time to worn unsuspecting people. Spymantec who makes Norton is a greedy company that Doesn't care about their consumers. They will automatically renew Norton each year without telling you, and charge your credit card. This is even if you don't have it installed. Worst of all, Norton doesn't find any viruses. There have been numerous times that Microsoft Security Essentials (free, which I highly recommend and does not deserve any bad reviews) has found 10 plus infections on Norton machines. Also, it drastically slows any PC. It will slow the loading of Windows, and opening of any program. Please also be warned that Spymantec pays people like CNET to give them good reviews (why MSE is rated so low is because Microsoft doesn't make any money so they don't pay them). Please be warned if you are considering buying any Norton product that it will make your computer horrible!

"NIS 2013 Vault lost most of my logins"
Version: Norton Internet Security 2013 20.1
Pros
I used Norton for many years and found few problems
Cons
I thought I could trust them to manage my information. I couldn't
Summary
Halfway through my annual subscription to NIS 2012 that ran fine on my XP desktop, I strayed onto the Norton site last week and saw that there was a new 2013 version and I was invited to update. I did so, not knowing that Norton would not migrate about 90% of my logins and other vital confidential data, which is now lost FOREVER!
The upgrade went fine but only after it had gone through was I informed that the local Internet Safe was replaced by the cloud-based Vault. No problem, I thought, until I examined how few of my passwords had been migrated over. Out of around 90 I had about six and noen of the important notes files at all.
Speaking to the amiable back office people in India and I discovered the data was lost permanently with no chance of ever recovering it
The company offered to extend my cover for three months as a token of sympathy for my loss. Big deal I thought.
The algorithm has evident problems. If it can happen once it can happen again... to you. DO NOT UPGRADE to 2013.
Also
Why is there no temp backup created somewhere for this unique data, either locally or on the cloud?
Why is there no health warning: "Please make a backup of your vital data before moving to 2013"?
For a company whose sole reason to exist is to protect data -- from outside intrusions usually, but also from glitches in its own software -- this lapse is inexcusable... -
"A notable stumble this year"
Version: Norton Internet Security 2013 20.1
Pros
Seems as good as 2012 when on a Windows 7 computer
Cons
Lots of grief on XP
Summary
Installed quickly on a Windows 7 PC, but on an XP laptop, which ran NIS 2012 flawlessly, major problems. I kept getting blue error screens when installing; and then when I tried to reinstall 2012 it gave blue screens as well. Norton tech tried to fix remotely for an hour until his shift ended, no joy. After a total of five hours of trying, I gave up and installed the cable company's free software (a version of McAfee); it installed and worked fine. Norton was good about a refund. I'll try the NIS 2014 version when it comes out; after this years debacle I doubt they'll make the same mistakes next year.

"In order to uninstall NIS 2010, I downloaded NIS 2013."
Version: Norton Internet Security 2013 20.1
Pros
To get rid of the "OLD" NIS 2010 from WINDOWS 7, I had to download the new NIS 2013 from CNET just so that I can install the NAV 2012 because the uninstall software that came with the NIS 2010 program REFUSED TO WORK! Afterwards I had no further problems. Very Happy ...Thank You CNET!
Cons
None at this time.
Summary
So if you have WINDOWS 7, PLEASE TRY THIS!!!
