    Version: Norton Internet Security 2010

"You can't rate this 5 stars because it's pretty!"

Pros: Or can you? I think not! Looks pretty, probably the best GUI of all 2009 suites. However it's still one hell of an uninstall!

Cons: Removal tool still won't get rid of it entirely. Took me a regitry cleaning wih the new WinASO & a reg edit! What the hell, Norton? Like Charles sais, way to many false positives.

Summary: With the removal still next to impossible, & the false positives, I can't recommend it. Unless you have every intention of keeping this installed, "DO NOT USE THE 15 DAY FREE TRIAL"........ If your not skilled enough to use reg. edit it will continue to pop up with reminders to buy to continue using, just like the older versions.

I too have had big removal problems with Norton a couple of yrs back. Interesting to see they haven't bothered to amend this problem. After all, it's in their corporate interests to make it as difficult as possible for us to shop elsewhere.

Okay. Whose paying you to say this?!? I've used Norton for YEARS and have never had a problem with false positives!!! And the 15 DAY FREE TRIAL sounds like you were using a BETA which is almost, always never a good idea. The trial version from Symantec is 30 DAYS and works great!! Get the facts straight before you speak!!

Unfortunately, this is the case with all security software, failure to uninstall. Norton 2009 however does uninstall well because it have Live Update as a separate component. Use Revo Uninstaller.

It actually has one of the least false positives of any security software. Remember detection rate is never 100% guaranteed.

chris7t1, Norton removal tool doesn't get it all. Just 2 days ago, a friend tried removing it like that & ended up reformatting his XP Pro system. last year, I did the same on a friends XPMCE Hp system & still had to reg edit the system as it continued to pop up asking her to buy the full version, even weeks later. I finally went over, did my reg edit & killed it once & for all. Pretty it is but it's still Norton & it still sucks!
