"Improved yet one major fault remains."

by The Sports Fan on November 22, 2008

Pros: Improved yet one major fault remains. So much of the good things I've read about it are true but it still has one big issue that I can't overlook.

Cons: Looks great & scans fast but it has an unforgivable number of false positives.

Summary: I have an ESET Smart Security license good through 5-2010. Needing a reformat of my Vista Ultimate system anyway, I had a look at this 2009 version of Norton. Onb a clean machine with a corrupt, unrepairable driver, I removes my ESET. Installed this,... read more

"You can't rate this 5 stars because it's pretty!"

    by CMG54 on November 23, 2008

Pros: Or can you? I think not! Looks pretty, probably the best GUI of all 2009 suites. However it's still one hell of an uninstall!

Cons: Removal tool still won't get rid of it entirely. Took me a regitry cleaning wih the new WinASO & a reg edit! What the hell, Norton? Like Charles sais, way to many false positives.

Summary: With the removal still next to impossible, & the false positives, I can't recommend it. Unless you have every intention of keeping this installed, "DO NOT USE THE 15 DAY FREE TRIAL"........ If your not skilled enough to use reg. edit it will cont... read more

"The low resources claims by Symantec are fales"

    by michael.s33 on January 21, 2009

Pros: It did a great job of updating itself and had pretty much evbery type of protection a person could want in a products (aside from no Exchange server support)

Cons: HUGE resource HOG albiet a hard to find one. No support for Exchange Server with Outlook, rendering the SPAM features useless as well as the AV protection.

Summary: I was excited at the prospect of Symantec getting back in to the game so to speak. But while their feature set is great the performance and stability issues simply render the product unusable. I have since reverted back to Avast for my AV, Spambully ... read more

    "Massive improvement!!!"

    by saadu_sweetypie on November 26, 2008

    Pros: + Efficient memory usage
+ Simple and easier to use interface
    + Updates are very fast
+ Blazing fast virus scan (faster than Nod, trust me!)
    + Doesn't slow down my pc as Kaspersky IS 2009 did (C2D E8400 3.0GHZ, 2GB RAM,Vista Ultimate 32bit)

Cons: -Takes a bit time to boot up compared to Nod (I am an ESET fanboy)

Summary: People!!! stop rating this product poorly!!!! I am personally an ESET fanboy and was a Kaspersky maniac!!! But after using this product, trust me!!!! Symantec have overridden the tag of bloatware from their software!!! and about scan speeds? it's fas... read more
