"some problem, but the function and detection is gud..."
Version: Norton AntiVirus 2010 beta
Pros
similar to Norton 2009, the Sonar scan, Norton insight and pulse update continue to provide effective protection to the pc, n the startup is still consider fast for a beta version...it helps me to detect a high risk trojan...
Cons
it makes firefox freeze and my pc slow down, certain function can't be performed. exp, when I press right click button, my pc freeze... the hidden heavy resource cause my laptop to overheat,60 celsius to 85 celsius, makes my laptop power off itself
Summary
overall, it's consider quite positive for a beta security product... but I couldn't gv a four star due to the flaws I discovered and the bugs tht causes the fustration...

"much better"
Version: Norton AntiVirus 2010 beta
Pros
lighter, cleaner, stronger and faster than the old 2009
Cons
rapid updates still cut in too late and why 15 days to test?

"Great Performance"
Version: Norton AntiVirus 2010 beta
Pros
This uses less than 8 meg of RAM on my system - compared to over 50 meg used by AVG. I really like the performance information.
Cons
The trial period that needs to be renewed - they should just make it work until they ship the final product.
Summary
Norton has a winner. I haven't tested the detection (that would take a full lab), but the combination of malware detection and IPS makes sense. The reputation cloud technology is cool and seems like the right way to go. Not only has Norton fixed their notorious performance problems, but the new performance info is great - it tells me the security and performance rating of every process on my system - and when I download new software, it tells me how that software is likely to affect my system. Very cool - and very different from any other security product out there.

"Not free..."
Version: Norton AntiVirus 2009 beta
Pros
Works great and is very efficient
Cons
Shows it's free when you download it but you don't actually get a activation code and you can't get one off from the website so in about a week it doesn't work because it's not activated
Summary
If you want a completely free program this one isn't worth downloading... It's only free for trail

"Fast and Efficient"
Version: Norton AntiVirus 2009 beta
Pros
This is amazing, I installed it because I needed a virus clean done, and I expected my PC to slow down like in previous versions, but it runs lightning fast compared to any of the older versions, I installed it in about 15 seconds, and its faster than any other complete solution I've ever seen, and I completely agree with you nighttracker, I think the people that are complaining "It's not free" are just some of those people that hate Norton because previous versions were slow and just want something to complain about. This versions IS free, it's a pre-release beta version, alot of companies release free pre-release versions of their software. And it ALWAYS expires when they're ready to release the final version. No person with half a brain would expect to get a free full version of commercial software simply because the beta was free.

"Blocks Google Mail"
Version: Norton AntiVirus 2009 beta
Cons
Same old Norton-works ok for a time, then goes into blocking certain sites. Kept blocking my Google Mail account from loading, said my PC was being attacked by Google!
Not for me.

"User interface great low CPU ram usage HOWEVER"
Version: Norton AntiVirus 2009 beta
Pros
I cant believe this is free as claimed with no limitations but I do have ONE big question...
Cons
Where is the activation key it is asking for, or how long is this trial?

"Did not help me at all"
Version: Norton AntiVirus 2009 beta
Cons
Had an infected file (antivirusxp2008)that was able to gain control over the Beta 2009 and create a loop in the (found)(deleted) process which ran repeatedly. Plus I could not get the program containing these files deleted. Another program (Total Privacy 5) finally was able to clean my computer after I uninstalled Norton Antivirus Beta 2009. As I said, it appeared that files from Antivirusxp 2008 were controlling the Norton software.
