    "Not a good choice"

    October 6, 2011  |   By scooter-154

    Pros

    Nothing to speak of

    Cons

Slowed down my PC. Lots of features that nobody really needs, I don't anyway. My PC was infected with a virus while using this.

    Summary

I recently purchased a PC, I felt secure and safe with the free 6 month Norton product, but it was a huge let down when I got infected. I could have chosen a number of antivirus products with this deal when I bought my laptop, but I was a fool and went with Norton because it was a brand I knew of, so I figured it was the best. I will never make that mistake again.

    To PistolPete:
You've never ever seen a virus get through Norton? Really??? I see this all the time. No anti virus is 100% perfect and there are a lot of nasty viruses out there that are being programmed smarter to get past the anti virus programs.

I work technical support at a school, students download all sorts of crap to their computers. Even with Norton or Avira or AVG, everyone gets a virus eventually. You cannot tell me any anti virus out there blocks 100%. It just isn't true.

A virus must have been introduced by you or a technician when NIV was not active, or by their computer. It happens, but I CANNOT BELIEVE that a virus got past NIV. 20+ years of experience using Norton products tells me that.
