    "Great Product! Simple to use."

    October 28, 2011  |   By marchethomas1

    Version: Nitro Pro (32-bit) 6.2.1.10

    Pros

Quick and easy training. Commands are simple and conversion of documents is a snap. Great tool.

    Cons

Missing some of the higher end tools Adobe Professional.

    Summary

While starting a small business, money has been tight and I could not afford the high price of Adobe. There is nothing wrong with Adobe if you can afford it and most of the tools it offers is well worth it. If you are looking for a simple tool to convert documents to PDF's, add headers and footers, and manipulate current PDF's for a very low price; then this is the best tool. The 14 day free trial is great if you only want to convert a couple of documents. After your done with your project simply delete the program from your hard drive. For someone that uses it once a week, the $99 is well worth it.

"A cheap version of Adobe, with extra bells and whistles"

    August 12, 2011  |   By molly_h

    Version: Nitro Pro (32-bit) 6.2.1.10

    Pros

Intuitive interface, allows for plenty of changes such as convert multiple times and edit. Allows me to extract any image and convenient saves in an organized fashion. Very customizable for changes. Definitely get the $20 upgrade to edit scanned docs

    Cons

Has trouble converting from proprietary software such as Wintotal. Doesn't come with templates for form creation. Takes over printing and saving from browser (at least with Chrome) which adds an extra step instead of making it easier.

    Summary

If you want adobe, but don't want to pay over $500 for a professional license, this is a great alternative.

"The CNET update process caused problems"

    July 19, 2011  |   By pdh027

    Version: Nitro Pro (32-bit) 6.2.1.10

    Pros

None, it has eliminated my existing permanent code and replaced it with a trial version. No positive, just additional problems to deal with.

    Cons

My software is now set to quite working due to an expiration date, as it converted my actual software install into a trial version.

    Summary

The CNET process seems to be more of a problem than a help, since I now have to go back and find my authcode for my existing software purchase now that the automatic update process changed it to a trial version that will expire shortly.

"Lighter than Adobe Acrobat and still functional"

    April 13, 2011  |   By robinhood2008

    Version: Nitro Pro (32-bit) 6.1.4.1

    Pros

Nitro PDF Professional does almost everything that Adobe Acrobat can do while still being lighter on your hard drive.

    Cons

About the only real con I can think of is the fact that, despite the many methods one can use to shrink a PDF file, sometimes the resulting PDF is a few kilobytes larger than the original.

    Summary

Don't listen to anybody who insists that you NEED Adobe Acrobat to manipulate your PDF files, when Nitro PDF Professional can do the job almost as well. Plus, it's lighter on the hard drive (136 MB fully installed versus 465+ MB just to download Adobe Acrobat). And that's without mentioning the fact that Nitro PDF Professional doesn't ask you to install any bloatware that Foxit's PDF products might force onto your system.

    "Love this product...."

    March 31, 2011  |   By cottonspyder

    Version: Nitro Pro (32-bit) 6.1.4.1

    Pros

Very easy to use and reasonably priced. Can create a document starting with a blank page rather than creating the document only from a Word or Excel document.

    Cons

Editing can some times be problematic.

    Summary

A must have in our business.

"Failed at editing documents with fillable fields"

    March 18, 2011  |   By Spoktrek

    Version: Nitro Pro (32-bit) 6.1.4.1

    Pros

Conversions to Word and Excel were quite good, as was the user interface (as compared to Acrobat).

    Cons

Fillable fileds with menu choices alwatys defaulted to the first in the list, no matter the actual choice, so editing these PDFs (which are all I have) wsa useless. I had problems inserting images too, some of which inserted themselves randomly.

    Summary

A huge disappointment considering that Nitro PDF problems propagated to the original PDFs, before the problems were noticed, Only my old version of Acrobat could repair them.

    "had to uninstall"

    February 24, 2011  |   By philos41

    Version: Nitro Pro (32-bit) 4.9

    Pros

I really like the features, alas, too many issues.

    Cons

Intrusive (very!), slowed down MS Word, crashed a few times. Oh well. I tried. Tried to uninstall. There are bits of it left in Word. The uninstall did not even delete the desktop icon. Wow. That's like sqaure one isn't it?

    Summary

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend it. Sadly. There is a need, but Nitro just does not pass muster in reliabilty.
