"Decent but not good for PRO use"

Nikon doesn't seem to participate in the Apple Developer's program, so they lag an update release or two behind Apple's releases of OS X.
I keep up with Apple for security and bug fix reasons and for Aperture 3 performance.
Unfortunately, Camera Control Pro won't work with the Nikon wireless remote under OS X 10.6.3. I called their tech support and they say they only support through OS X 10.6.1
This lag in updating Camera Control Pro makes the product worthless for my setup: Nikon D3 and a Nikon Wireless Remote.
I have to keep a Dell laptop around with Windows XP to use the Nikon products, then move the images over to OS X to complete my work.
I really wish Nikon would keep on top of the releases. Even better, write their code so that it doesn't break on Apple's updates to the same OS.
The current problem in CCP 2 is the inability to syc to the IP port the Wireless Remote broadcasts on with the Mac version of CCP. The PC version of CCP works just fine, even with the Wireless remote transmitting through an Apple Airport.... the irony. -

I use Nikon Camera Control Pro 2 primarily to shoot time lapse sequences that take longer than 3-4 hours. I have no complains about the Nikon Camera Control software (been using Nikon software since Nikon Capture 4).
The one pet peeve I have is the Nikon updating function that is built into the Camera Control Pro 2. When I check through the Nikon software, it says all my software is up to date even though it is not. This has been an issue since the early days of Nikon's Capture/Camera control software. If it wasn't for sites like Version Tracker, I would not be informed of any Nikon software updates. -

As most digital photographers today are aware, it's such a hassle to take the camera out of the bag, set the aperture, set the shutter speed, set the mode, and so on, and to have to do it all... manually! P-l-e-a-s-e tell me what is "automatic," what is "computerized", what is "digital" about that? Unless digital means fingers, photography in the "digital age" is still so gosh darn... labor-intensive and hands-on!
Well, that's what I love about this app. As long as I remember to leave the lens cap off the lens, and the lens on the camera, I can pretty much take shots without ever handling the camera at all! My shiny new Nikon D3 is such a heavy beast, especially loaded with the batteries and a 17-35 mm AF-S or a 80--400 mm VR lens, that it's just easier to shoot this way, without ever touching the camera at all.
Of course things were different back in the days of a little FE2 with a 50mm lens, but there's just no going back. Anyway, thanks to Nikon Camera Control Pro, from the comfort of my Herman Miller office chair I have taken a fantastic series of shots of the inside of my camera bag which I am hoping to have published by a well known photography magazine soon. -
