    "Predatory Developer"

    February 08, 2011   |   By MAC_1984

    Version: NewsFire 2.0

    Pros

Used to be an excellent news reader.

    Cons

David Watanabe is among the worst developers in the Mac community today. Support? Forget it. Common courtesy? Forget that too.

    Summary

This developer actually has moved-on to Apple's Mac App Store leaving behind those who paid him for licenses. Like a predator who preys on conning the elderly this developer just moved his con elsewhere after acquiring others hard-earned money. No doubt, he will successfully take people for yet another ride at the App Store. You've been warned!

    "Frustrating"

    August 18, 2009   |   By paulshaw

    Version: NewsFire 1.6 (v81)

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I used to like this app, but it now appears to force you to subscribe to the developers own feed. Not the kind of feature worth upgrading for!

    "NetNewsWire"

    August 02, 2009   |   By MAC_1984

    Version: NewsFire 1.6 (v81)

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Sporadic development meaning the developer gets around to revisions on his own sweet time. The latest removed more features that it added. NetNewsWire is vastly superior is every way.

    "Free, but..."

    March 01, 2008   |   By toino.carrapato

    Version: NewsFire 1.5 (v72)

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
NewsFire is now free. But so are Vienna and NetNewsWire. And they're both better than NewsFire.: they have more features and are much easier to use. And did you notice that you cannot delete the developer's blog RSS feed from NewsFire? It's me who choses what feeds I want in my RSS reader. Not the developer!

    Summary

Actually I wouldn't have given NF more than 4 stars, even though it is free now...but just to even out the dumb rating of a few morons on here, I'll be giving it 5 stars this time...! Rate the application, people -- not your grudge against the developer...

    "Worse Developer On Planet Earth"

    March 01, 2008   |   By MAC_1984

    Version: NewsFire 1.5 (v72)

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Davis Watanabe is not only the worst developer on planet earth, he is also a crook by all standards. Not only he has taken end user funds for licenses, he then turns around and gives away his applications. Even worse is how he employs means within his applications to try to fetch money through other means.

David Watanabe should be banished from the Mac community.

    "Does not work in Leopard"

    December 21, 2007   |   By Razzledazzle

    Version: NewsFire 1.4 (v70)

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
The articles appear but clicking on them produces nothing. I wrote to the developer but received no reply. Obviously once he gets your money he could care less if the app doesn't run right. I read the other user's comments and I would have to agree. Don't buy this product! Don't support a developer who has no concern about his end users. Don't fatten a contemptuous individual's wallet. Maybe if he sees his profits shrinking he will pay some attention to his customers.

I don't see why a program that simple should require 10.4. Lame.

    "VERY limited html display"

March 27, 2007   |   By Speak To Me Now

    Version: NewsFire 1.4 (v69)

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I got this as part of the macheist bundle and I find it so limited. I really can't see the point? You get to read a headline and then have to go to the web site to read the article, then back to NewsFire for the next feed. Safari or Firefox do a much better job of rendering and allowing you control and display of feeds. I love reddit.com but with this all I see is a headline, I have to click to go the site, it doesn't render the page right there in the RSS reader like many others do. Its a very old school way of handling feeds. Glad I got it as part of a bundle because there's no way I'd pay for something that basically has me double handling everything and swapping back and forth between two apps rather than just using one that can do both.
