    "Great browser"

    January 8, 2005  |   By rdf8585

    Version: Netscape 7.2

    Summary

I still find myself using Netscape today, in 2005, nearly eight years after being introduced to the net with an early version of the browser.

"Everyone has already said use Foxfire!"

    January 8, 2005  |

    Version: Netscape 7.2

    Summary

Forget about IE and Netscape. It's too bloated with 3rd party software and spyware. Foxfire is so much better than this one. Leave this one alone.

    "Works for me!"

    December 24, 2004  |   By misterben

    Version: Netscape 7.2

    Summary

Pro - This 7.2 version is much quicker on my system than IE. And I like that it still retains much of the look/feel as the prior version that I used. ( I was a die-
hard fan but gave up on it some years ago and can't remember exactly why. Could have been bloatware/AOL).
Con - I couldn't post this rating here with it( I had to use IE). Could be a setting...? And although I used the custom install and only installed Navigator and Sun Java 2,it still installed AOL icons on my desktop and in my favorites & startup folders, and it created an AOLAOD folder with AOLAOD.EXE in it. I don't have anything in particular against AOL, but I'd like to have a choice as to whether I want it installed on my computer. And there was nothing in the EULA about it. One last thing, if you want AIM, check the privacy policy before you install it.

    "Most Productive Browser Out There"

    December 7, 2004  |

    Version: Netscape 7.2

    Summary

*Tabbed Browsing choices of background loading or ForeGround Loading speeds up web surfing Examples: Search Engines and Monster.com you can set tabs to load in background and set them to load new links in a new tab with middle mouse button clicks allowing you to click many links on the search engine page as all the new links load simultaneously go to each tab one at a time and back and forth to each tab not having to wait for any pages to reload.
*When it is installed it easily gets any Favorites in the user's IE Favorite list and adds them to the Netscape 7.2 Book Marks.
*File a book mark in the Personal Folder allows you to add buttons to the top of the browser.
*You can easily hide or unhide any row of buttons.
    *FTP is really fast
*Pop up blocker button makes it easy to toggle on and off and has a Pop up blocker counter on the button. You can also set to play the Windows Balloon Pop sound each time a popup is blocked.
*Book Marks can be easily grouped into organized folders.
*Print Preview allows you to see what a printout will look like and how many pages it will be before you send it to the printer.
    * Has Actual Words on the buttons so you don't have to guess what any of the buttons do.
    * Check out the Tools Menu and right mouse click the New Tab button.
    * With Netscape 7.2's Browser you can have many pages open at once under different tabs and bookmark the Entire Group of tabs all at once as well as make any entire group of tabs be your home page.
*Preferences allow you to really manage how long cookies should remain on your system and even has an option (under the Cookie Manager) to "Don't allow sites that set removed cookies to set future cookies"
    * Very customizable. Example: Under Preferences you can select Automatic "Home Page" or "Blank Page" or "Last Page Visited" for 3 separate instances, them being
    1) Start the Browser
    2) Start a new window
    3) Start a new tab
Note: I recommend going into the Preferences and under Navigator / Go to Tabbled Browsing then turn on Middle-click, Ctrl+click or Ctrl+Enter on links in a Web page
Get it now while it is still free.

    "Still my favorite."

    December 1, 2004  |   By intzbz

    Version: Netscape 7.2

    Summary

Looks like 7.2 might be the last version before the big switch to a firefox orientated version. I always liked the combo. suite that comes with Netscape. As far as everyone complaining about being to bloated. Well i always hated that term. Give me a bloated browser anyday of the week. The more features the better. I like mozilla 1.7.3 but what makes Netscape the winner is the extra little features. Some as dumb as showing the my sidebar button on the toolbar that mozilla doesn't offer. Firefox is very good. But not what i'm looking for. And i am disapointed with there mail client - Thunderbird. One of my biggest complaints about T-Bird is the lack of a BCC option in the address book. I often BCC all my friends at work this way. And with Tbird u have to manually click each person over from To or CC to bcc. I know, small complaint but its enough for me to stick with Netscape. So i sure hope the developers at least maintain this branch of Netscape. If not, than this is what browser i will stick with. Also, i just tried the new beta Netscape built on Firefox, I dont like it at all. Really cluttered interface. Its stable and quick, thats not the issue, but not like Firefox or the current Netscape.

    November 30, 2004  |

    Version: Netscape 7.2

    Summary

Junky IE alternative, use Internet Explorer with Win XP SP2 or use Mozilla FireFox because this is a hard drive space waster, resource waster, junky UI and dumb features.

    "MY Favorite Browser."

    November 17, 2004  |

    Version: Netscape 7.2

    Summary

I've had it with Internet explorer, and am looking for an alternative browser, thank God there's Netscape. Java included (sun), tabbed browsing, powerful pop-up blocker, clean interface, stability, customer support, speedy page loading, and best of all free. F*** to all those people (lamers who have nothing better to say but demean such a great browser) saying that this has adware/spyware, unwanted programs etc...it's not true...shame on you, just see it for yourself ^_^. I had no problems or what so ever with Netscape, just download the necessary plug-ins for it (shockwave and flash) then you are all set! So people if your looking for a standalone browser download Netscape now!
