Version: NetVeda Safety.Net 3.61
"One of the best FREE firewalls you will find"
Pros: This program deserves to be more well-known. It's not a resource hog. It has many options for securing your network such as time limits and porn blocking to name just a couple. Once you have it configured, you will feel secure that no unwanted internet or network traffic will get through without your permission.
Cons: A little complicated in the beginning. However, don't get discouraged, take the time to learn the product. Free firewalls do not get much better than this.

"For controlling safety freaks"
Pros: NETVEDA is the best free firewall you can get!! You can block almost anything from going in or out of your network. Like for an example if you dont want anyone accessing pornography or any offensive material on your computer, then all you do is go to the PICS RATINGs and set it accordantly. Which stops the all access to anything on the checked list. IT WONT EVEN LET YOU SEACH FOR IT ON A SEACH ENGINE LIKE GOOGLE.COM!! Another neat ability is the RESTRICT ACCESS TIME. Which the name says it all. Some more features are access control, application control, web filter, erase content and many more to unique controlling option to try out.
Cons: There isn't really anything unappealing about this software but they could make their GUI a bit more fancy.

"ZoneAlarm has a good opponent."
Pros: Kernel-mode protection, good reporting system, user-friendly -- But the most intriguing thing about this product: Low on resources. Unlike ZoneAlarm, this firewall will not slow down your PC.
Cons: Can't vouch for everything on it. Haven't tried to port scan myself to say that this is a 100% fool-proof program.

Version: NetVeda Safety.Net 3.61
Pros: I think it is the best I've found!!!
I tried ZoneAlarm... it uses 30% of system resources at idle and blocked ALL access to the internet. I tried Sygate... it wouldn't even come up on screen after I installed it.
NetVeda Safety.Net allows settings for individual user acounts. Right down to the time of day and what days a user is allowed to access the internet, what apps they can use, picture rateings, web site filtering, and on!
It's not as hard to configure as one might think. It'll take some time, just read the help files etc.
Can be used strait out of the box as well. Has popup window in corner of moniter to ask your permission or denial for one time or forever, that can easily be changed later in the main setting. All very intuitive!
I ran a scan test of my system from what I believe is a reputable site and my system is tight as a drum! Syn pks, ping tests, port scans, computer ID (name you gave your computer), ALL were invisible to the internet with exception to my IP address. (That too can be masked, but not here. Takes other software for that.)
Use of system resources is negligable. You won't even know it's working untill it's called to duty!
It can be password protected to keep tinker's out of the main settings (kids too)!
I could go on, but if this dosn't make you want to dwnld it, nothing more I can say will convince you that this is the one!
