Solitaire has never been accused of being the most exciting game on the planet, and neither is this free application. The program offers only six game variations, including the traditional favorite, Klondike. The Online in the program's name simply means it runs as an executable file in a browser window, which is a bit strange. We couldn't play the games in Firefox or Netscape, but they ran fine on Internet Explorer. A small help button comes in handy if you're baffled by how to play a game. NetSolitaire 2004 offers a very limited feature set, and while the graphics are decent, the lack of sound is a conspicuous oversight. You can undo or correct mistakes, but you cannot save games or track statistics. Advertising banners run at top of the window, but at least the program is free. All told, we can recommend the program only if you don't have the time to search for a better alternative.
