    "Thumbs Up..."

    November 30, 2004  |   By The Webguy

    Version: NetShade 1.2.5

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I really dig this application and am going to make it a permanent feature on my Powerbook (please, how about a 17" Powerbook icon!) but have a question: will future releases support HTTPS and/or FTP? Also, once I register, is that a lifetime registration or what?

Hoping it contiunes to improve (added protocols and icons) - otherwise two thumbs up!

    "It's Still Rubbish!"

    August 17, 2004  |   By AussieRick

    Version: NetShade 1.2.4

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I waited, and waited and waited the 'few' minutes for the proxy list to update before surfing, and the 10 minute demo period expired before the list updated! Without 'waiting' for the list to update, apparently this software will not work, and web pages will not load, or will display errors or display alternate sites that were not entered. This software is still rubbish, and it does not work!

    "Works as advertised"

    August 11, 2004  |   By kellyosx

    Version: NetShade 1.2.4

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Netshade is EXACTLY what I've been looking for... and it works as advertised. I can browse the internet without my regular IP address being exposed.

My IP address was banned from a bulletin board that I frequented because I corrected the bulletin board's administrator when he/she made some false statements. It was frustrating because I know I was right, but the admin was just bitter about it.

With NetShade, I am able to gain full access to the site once again... and don't have to worry about overzealous bulletin board admins or my IP address being blocked anymore.

When you first use the software, give it a couple minutes to download the proxy list. There is a possibility that it may give you the aforementioned error messages that other reviewers experienced. once this is done however, it works like a charm.

    Money very well spent IMHO.

    "Better Documentation Needed"

    March 2, 2004  |   By jimcintosh

    Version: NetShade 1.2

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This product does what it says, but is poorly documented. I had to write the author to find out what Security: Good, Better or Best meant. Now I see in the latest release I can choose proxies with one dot, two dots or three dots. There is no explanation, but I presume these correspond to the Good, Better and Best security settings.

For those who want secure and anonymous connections, you want something like Anonymizer (see SSH Tunnel Manager for a quick way to set up secure tunnels). If you want to appear to be coming from another location, though, this product works well. I live outside the US, and am tired of sites that prevent me from connecting to them. Using this product I can appear to be in the States.

    "4 stars because..."

    Version: NetShade 1.2

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
it has a great interface and it's coming along in terms of what it can do. I think it needs to step up on compatibility and start working with Mozilla. I downloaded the first version of this a couple days ago and it's alredy a lot better. I can't speak to the problems people are having because I haven't had any on my quicksilver w/ 10.3.2.
