    "Excellent one stop resource check"

    January 23, 2011  |   By johnniedoo

    Version: NetResView 1.25

    Pros

It is small super easy to use and set up and provides all the information and much more than i expected all in one place

    Cons

    free ware: no cons

    Summary

I only have good things to say. it is freeware that actually is more informative than built in or paid for utilities.it gives me all my information from the one computer so i dont hve to go to every one. I can not make changes but it isnt what this is for. i use it to just find out what i have and where it is , particularly helpful with all my shrares. in a couple of seconds i have a complete scorecard of what is where and how many. it is fast and easy to get all kinds of info.

    Updated on Jan 23, 2011

this is an addendum to the 1.21 version i had reviewed originally and wasnt thrilled with.

    Updated on Jan 23, 2011

I do not use this often and listed no cons, one because i rarely use it and 2 because it is free and does limited duty but is pretty good at what it does do. it is tough to down rate a freeware product for not doing everything; as long as it does pretty much what it does claim to do. I get long lists of things and i liked it because, at first i thought the program was off but it turned out i had a program as a 'share' a zillion times for some reason. and for that alone, i am thankful i downloaded this. i was able to get my network things a little better organized (had to use other programs to do that work) and net res view served its purpose.

    "Needs Work"

    October 1, 2010  |   By johnniedoo

    Version: NetResView 1.21

    Pros

It is small and compact. Found shares and address of the computer it was on.

    Cons

It did not find anything other than some things in the computer i opened it to, i have ethernet connections and it wasnt able to see any device on the wired net. it found only the one ip address and only one MAC address out of 5or 6

    Summary

i believe it needs some work. I dont know how these things function so have no advice only that it did not find anything beyond some shared files on the ' drive and it found the printer usb connection. Out of 6 wired IP addresses , it only found the one it was on. only the one MAC address. I have wifi as well and it saw nothing at all wireless..

    "Couldn't find most LAN resources"

    September 22, 2010  |   By Alan Mintaka

    Version: NetResView 1.21

    Pros

Easy installation - just extract the files from the downloaded ZIP and run.

    Cons

Couldn't find most LAN resources on my system. It missed things like: routers, network printers, network disc drives, gateways, hubs, switches, networked DVRs and media components.

    Summary

Windows My Network does a better job locating LAN resources and displaying the information.
