    "Keeps network traffic under control"

    July 4, 2006  |   By CogentConsulting

    Version: NetLimiter 1.3

    Pros

When sharing a DSL network with torrent users, this software kept everybody happy.

    Cons

A password feature would be nice so the kids don't keep changing what I've set for them.

    "Version 1.3 SUPERB! Version 2.7 & 2.8 GARBAGE!"

    June 23, 2006  |   By niknac

    Version: NetLimiter 1.3

    Pros

Version 1.3 is clear, concise, easy to use, and gives you everything you need to monitor and/or limit all downloads & uploads. Really essential if you have a maximum monthly download capacity set by your broadband provider like I have. Also allows you to change the display name of applications so, for example, I renamed iexplore.exe to show as Internet Explorer - much more sense!

    Cons

Absolutely nothing wrong with Version 1.3 BUT... I started off using version 2.7 and this STINKS! Really great to look at, but not so easy to navigate round the various 'plugin' windows, and it's SO buggy. The window constantly shows incorrect views that seem to get 'left behind' and as such are not usable, and it refreshes inconsistently and incorrectly. Just can't live with that, so it got deleted in preference for v1.3. Really can't recommend v2.7 at all (btw, also tried the latest v2.8 - same problems!)

"Excellent tool until you get the Blue Screen of Death"

    June 3, 2006  |   By iokhahon

    Version: NetLimiter 1.3

    Pros

    Nice interface, works as advertised

    Cons

Many reports of the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) when using this software (which I have also witnessed multiple times)...

    BugCheck 1000007E, {c0000005, f49131e8, f6c77be4, f6c778e0}

    Probably caused by : nltdi.sys ( nltdi+91e8 )

However good this tool is, it's not worth the pain it will cause your system.

"1.3=bestest limiting program ever, newer 2.07=evil"

    May 6, 2006  |   By Tasslehoff27

    Version: NetLimiter 1.3

    Pros

This version is great. DO NOT use the newer 2.07 build.

    Cons

2.07. Dunno who the programmers were for this one but they royally stuffed up a great app. BSOD's on a fresh XPSP2 install when a few hundred connections using BT. Wildly fluctuating transfer rate when limiting and to add insult to injury installing an unnecessary, buggy as hell service. Stick to version 1.3

    "useful limiter"

    April 18, 2006  |   By Raget

    Version: NetLimiter 1.3

    Pros

It does a good job, you can monitor and limit single programs, which is great, esp. when trying to find adware or keyloggers etc!

    Cons

Doesnt blend with windows. When limiting the actual bandwidth the program uses flucuates much more then if you didnt limit it. Eg, no limit around 8-12kb/s, but limit to say 8kb/s then it flucuates around 3-10kb/s

    "Compact power"

    April 5, 2006  |   By CheezyMcWang

    Version: NetLimiter 1.3

    Pros

Running on a P3-866 with 256Mb of RAM, I've had no problems with RAM stealing, and if you can't get the limiter to work, try restarting the computer like it tells you to.

Great program, small, powerful, and works.

    Cons

    Not Free
