"Java GUI Pain Ends Here"
Version: NetBeans IDE 5
Pros
NetBeans 5 is a revolutionary upgrade to the previous versions, because it includes the insanely great Matisse GUI Builder that removes the hassle of Java Swing coding. The file organization and various debugging tools are also important in helping programmers in developing larger scale programs.
Cons
NetBeans is not suitable to create a single Java class, for example, to solve algorithm challenge. It will create unnecessary packages and directories.

"Very Well Done"
Version: NetBeans IDE 4.1
Pros
This is an FULL-SIZED IDE. It is developed by a community of developers for other developers. It is made to work with Java and it does it well. It is well integrated and incorporates features seamlessly into the enviroment making useful items easily accessed.
Cons
I've noticed, when deleting the existing Java SDK after installing Netbeans, there isn't an easy way of making Netbeans realize another exists and it gives an error that isn't easily worked around.
