"excellent results-- poor instructins"
Version: Net Transport 2.92 build 540
Pros
Can locate URLs that are hidden and works with all the protocols.
Cons
Lousy, almost no instructins.
Summary
I found support excellent. I sent in a bug report and within 24 hours was reponded and they fixed within 48 hours.
They need a manual. Figuring out how to use the program is not easy, but it has features that no other program can provide. -
"Good product, poor support"
Version: Net Transport 2.92 build 540
Pros
Works well and is reliable, I purchased it back in 2005...
Cons
...but with the latest version my key doesn't work and all emails to the author/purchasing site have been ignored
Summary
Worth buying but don't expect support hence only 3 stars, otherwise would be 5

"Sweet Program for Legal MMS Protocol Downloads"
Version: Net Transport 2.72 build 435
Pros
Successfully catches wmv filenames on the MMS protocol.
Successfully *downloads* said videos to your PC HDD.
Provides for sites requiring Referer URL.
Provides for sites requiring Username/Password combination.Cons
You essentially can't multitask ? at least not if you only have 224 MB of RAM and a 1.7 GHz processor ? because it uses all your system resources. But it's worth it, because it does it's job.
Summary
You don't have to sit through the whole video to "record" it like other programs make you do (Replay Media Catcher, e.g.); you download it straightaway like normal and it's done. Btw, one thing the preview video for RMC reinforced was how it *is* legal to acquire streaming content for your PC using apps designed for that purpose.
It will botch your downloaded files at the very end if you only use one thread, turning them into a file of less than 1 MB after it just downloaded 10 or 100 times that for that file. I use 3 threads and no problems do I have with that.
Great "preferential" price they offer you of $25 when you get the trial version. The best software always has a modest price tag.
It works! I tried StreamDown and SDP Downloader and they didn't work for me. Even when I first tried Net Transport, I didn't think it was working because there was a small popup/dialog box I had to answer/close first before it would do what I wanted. But once I did so, this immediately worked.
You do have to press "Start" each time you open the program for the URL Sniffer to catch the media files, but that's cool.
I use Getright for everything else, so this is a nice partner for it. If you pay for content on a site, this program enables you to acquire that content legally, though the site may on the surface only offer streams. Just play by the rules is how I go about it. If a site tells me they don't allow downloading of their streams, I would respect that. But if not, and it is available for download on a site you pay for, this program is good to get what you paid for if you want to view it later.
If I need it past the trial period, I will certainly buy. Thanks Xi. -
"very well done!"
Version: Net Transport 2.63 build 415
Pros
