    "Complete media suit"

    February 18, 2013  |   By Miran33

Version: Nero Ultra Edition Package One 12.0.02900

    Pros

+ Support of allmost all file types in nero recode / export / and video editing.

As apposed to other users had no problems using this in windows XP. Also had not problems with the installation procedure. I dont mind it being big or taking alot space, I am paying for a product, if they want to add features that take space then the better it is for me. Thats probably why they seperated the instalation files into two files. One being the core components (300 MB) second being the content pack (700mb).

I had nero 11 platinum and would recommend getting nero 12 platinum for the following reasons:
    * Highly improved nero recode, example, it now detects the different sound streams and subtitles from mkv files, and you can choose between the streams to export into allot other file formats.
    * Added couple effects into video editing.
    * If you are subscribed to their newsletter you can benefit from discounts
    * Upgrading is cheaper compared to having to buy it the first time around.

    Cons

I would like to have more features in editing videos such as masking/ cutting / applying effects ON HAND/FREE SELECTED PARTS, Like some picture software have or like the more expensive video editing software software that can go for 5 to 10 times the price of the nero software suit.

I primary use Nero video and Nero recode / export only.

"Nero Vision 12 has serious problems"

    October 26, 2012  |   By Edward222x

Version: Nero Ultra Edition Package One 12.0.02000

    Pros

None - only worked one time and now gives an error. Now previous versions like Nero 10 will not work either.

    Cons

I have been buying Nero since the beginning, but no more. There is a known flaw with the program. After a month of trying to get help with Nero Tech department I finally got an email from them admitting they know about the problem but do not plan on finding a solution. A copy of their email back to me is in the Summary. Avoid dealing with this Tech department, they will give you a run-a-round for months before being honest and dealing with the issue.

    Summary

    Dear Mr.,

    thank you for your e-mails.

Sadly we have to inform you that despite extensive analysis we cannot offer a solution to your problem with Nero Video.
The problem is know, but I cannot say that most people report this special issue.

There is one last option available, with the drawback of being very time consuming; this would be reinstalling your operation system.
Should you regard this as a possibility enabling you to use Nero, we would like to recommend this procedure.
We are very well aware of the amount of work you would have to put into this.

After reinstalling your operating system and reinstalling your Nero 12 Platinum/Nero Multimedia Suite 10 version, the problem could be solved.

I am very sorry, but I cannot offer you any other solution!

Have a nice weekend, Mr. McIntire!

    Kindest Regards

"NERO 12 - DO NOT BUY"

    October 22, 2012  |   By filmmaker-joe

Version: Nero Ultra Edition Package One 12.0.02000

    Pros

NONE - IT WILL NOT INSTALL ON ANY COMPUTER I OWN

    Cons

Will not install - takes 30 minutes each try and will not install. TECH SUPPORT COSTSS $1.25 a MINUTE!!!!!

    Summary

I own Nero 6-10 and will not buy this company's software anymore. It is borderline spyware anyway since it has so many little things it wants to install in your browser. But $1.25 to maybe tell me why it won't install is crap. BUY ANYTHING ELSE. Better yet, downlaod a pirate copy from torrents. Don't pay like I did.

    "Nero 12 Platinum STINKS!"

    October 16, 2012  |   By mi6uk007

Version: Nero Ultra Edition Package One 12.0.02000

    Pros

    There are none.

I had Nero 11 and was taken in by all the marketing promos to upgrade to Nero 12.

I attempted to, and sorely regretted it. Why? The product won't install.

    Cons

I have attempted to install Nero 12 Platinum numerous times on my laptop, and keep running into errors.

Their tech support is a joke! It's almost non-existent. Per their request I have emailed them the requested information 5 times already, and have yet to receive an appropriate resolution.

    Summary

Until they resolve the install issue, stay clear.

"If its free its good...If not you throw away money"

    October 8, 2012  |   By PCTech01

Version: Nero Ultra Edition Package One 12.0.02000

    Pros

I had purchased this software directly from there site. I have been using Nero since Nero 6. I have purchased Nero 7 and its has been the best ever since. But that was back in 2005. So i decided to wait till the newest version. Well I did and what is this an upgrade or a downgrade. Its not organized is very confusing. All the programs are every were. They don't have a fast burning option like Start Smart option any more and also Nero MediaHome is sold separate.. Also you have to download about 10 more software and install them individually to complete Nero. Nero's largest file is 800+ MB not including the rest of the 50 + MB applications. Nero 12 Its self is 300MB. Also Nero Starter requires to be online to start all of Nero individual applications in one place if not you have to start them from all the 9 different shortcuts. Its like a joke not worth $129.99 .Is worth more like $29.99 just take out the (1).

    Cons

Have all of the 10 extra installers in one installer. This will make it a lot easier not to download and install too many application individually. Also include Nero MediaHome 4 with Nero 12 Platinum customers.

Note: Nero 7 to Nero 8 included Nero MediaHome.

    Summary

List of individually files need it to complete Nero 12.

    Nero Content Pack
    Nero CoverDesigner
    Nero SoundTrax
    Nero WaveEditor
    Nero BurnRights
    Nero DiscCopy Gadget (32 bit)
    Nero InfoTool
    Nero DiscSpeed
    Nero InCD Reader 5
    Nero SecurDisc Viewer

Note: All of this also apply to Nero 11. Nero 7 up to Nero 10 included all this files.

Voyager529 I understand that you are happy with your free application but real customers like me aren't happy with Nero 11 or 12. I think its time to do more homework. I am also a program tester and i know what people want. (More Easy and lots of options.) I know other burning softwares that are beating Nero and great prices to. I think i saw your other posting in other sites. See you there...

"A great suite that is a solid value in its class"

    September 25, 2012  |   By voyager529

Version: Nero Ultra Edition Package One 12.0.02000

    Pros

--Installer is significantly improved; took 5 minutes on my computer (Nero 10 took 15, Nero 9 took nearly an hour).
--Intro screen to each module is informative.
--Kwik Move-It plug-in to Kwik Media is an EXCELLENT compliment to any Android phone; it auto scales and transcodes seamlessly.
--Video editing capabilities rival most competitors. Lots of great strides made with keyframing, titling, and real-time effects rendering.
--Video transcoding is incredibly fast, especially if you have a CUDA card. Leaves Adobe and SUPER in the dust.
--Recode UI is vastly improved over versions in Nero 6-10.
--BackItUp folder sync works well over LAN without requiring cloud sync.
--DiscSpan finally allows a project to be spanned to multiple discs efficiently, similar to SmartSplit in the now-defunct MusicMatch Jukebox.
--Image Recorder now supports generating ISO images in addition to .NRG files.
    --Extremely stable.

    Cons

--Installer spawns multiple MSI windows, making multitasking during the installation problematic.
--StartSmart features were deprecated (though this was true for Nero 11 as well).
--Seasoned users may be annoyed by all the intro windows; each has its own separate "don't show me again" window.
--Kwik Media's photo and video management will resonate much better with users who like the iTunes way of handling media; "files-and-folders" purists will be irked in places.
--Kwik Media is gross overkill for burning a data disc, despite supporting the process.
--Kwik Media's photo editing capabilities match most iPhone/Android apps for the purpose; more advanced editing will still require Photoshop or GIMP.
--DVD Templates still say "home movie" rather than "professional product".
--Recode UI slightly more confusing than Nero 11, IMO.
--On Win8, application icons are exclusively Metro; Classic Shell users will be spit into Metro to launch apps.

    Summary

My name is Joey. I can write this review because I have been beta testing this release of Nero since early July and have spoken back and forth with the developers personally regarding many of these matters.

All in all, the groups for whom Nero 12 are the best bargains are newcomers who do not yet have a copy of Nero (or only have the Express edition that came bundled with their DVD burner), users who have Nero 9 or earlier, users with CUDA cards and/or do a lot of video transcoding, and users who don't yet have a viable backup solution in place. If you're eyeballing PowerDirector or Premiere Elements, I strongly encourage you to eyeball Nero as well - it's similarly priced (if not less expensive), has the least system requirements of any major competitor in its class, and gives you boatloads of media management and sharing functionality that go well beyond what Cyberlink and Adobe offer. However, those suites do outshine Nero in certain specific areas. PowerDirector does some more complex video transitions. Sony's suite offers ACID and Sound Forge if musical arrangement is a primary concern. Despite the UI changing like Lady Gaga's wardrobe, Adobe is still the undisputed champion of photo editing when raw power is sought. But you won't find a better all-around multimedia management and editing suite.

If you're considering upgrading from Nero 11, the closest "killer features" would be the CUDA processing and DiscSpan, but those are definitely niche features that may not yet be justified for users with recent releases.

Full Disclosure: I am part of the Nero MVP program; resultantly I received my copy of Nero 12 at no charge. Also, I was awarded Customer of the Year 2012, for which Nero provided me with a Toshiba tablet and transportation to Germany to meet with the staff and executives of Nero AG. I am otherwise unpaid by the company, and no staff has had any input into this review.
