"2 stars because of the initiative"
Version: Nero BurnLite 10.0.105
Pros
first version of nero free.. atempt. (not sure if it's really the first)
small package
has updaterCons
had to reboot on install
had to reboot on update
it installed the ask stuff
could not burn a iso imageSummary
1st o like the initiative. not sure it's the first real free version f nero. was a quite happy nero 6 user. has lots of areas that are there for showing that you could buy them. was anoyed that i had to reboot the pc once on install and once on update. i apreiate that pe package was smaller than the crazy earlier version when you could get something like larger than 1gig. nero became much more than a disc writer but the perception was that it was so big... even if you wanted the basic stuff it was ok. i tried to write a fedora iso image. after swimming through the options i could not find anywhere tan option to just open an iso. maybe the option is there but the interface is getting autocad like. i could not find anywhere the option to see disc info.
i'm currently using cd burner xp as it just does the basic stuff... as most users need. i feel it tries to doo to much and that gets in the way. this is by far the most anoing stuff. this free version focuses too much on being a comercial and the least on being a functional tool. i do not think things should be blamed on the developers as they do what they are told. to me this seems a issue of vision over the product and that is the guy running the show business. just thik about what made you program popular in the first place and try to address that first. fancy new functionality comes after. -
"Completely Useless"
Version: Nero BurnLite 10.0.105
Pros
Nothing is good about this software.
Cons
It doesn't work. Installed, waded through all the adware nonsense. Tried to create a simple data DVD and it doesn't let me add files, it just goes in an endless loop.
Summary
DO NOT INSTALL THIS PROGRAM. It is a waste of time at best. This company should be embarrassed to be putting $#!* like this on the market.

"Not working"
Version: Nero BurnLite 10.0.105
Pros
Nothing new. It is same as the free OEM version bundled with CD/DVD burners when you prurchase from the store.
Cons
It takes plenty of time to install and it pops out several installers when start the setup file. Anyway, after sometime I could install it but when I insert a blank CD to the drive and tried to add some files to burn a disk, but it didn't work.
Summary
This is the worst version of Nero BurningRom I've ever found since I am using Nero softwares since the year 2000. To install and use this version on my notebook I spent around 30 minutes but in the end it was a complete waste of time because I could not burn a single CD because it is not functioning. I can assure that there was no any problems in my hardware because I could burn the CD using Windows in-built CD burning software.
If you really want to try this, do so but it didn't work on my system. -
"very easy to use"
Version: Nero BurnLite 10.0.105
Pros
Did exactly what was expected, simple interface and user friendly.
Cons
Nothing to dislike
-
"Would disappointed cover it? Nope."
Version: Nero BurnLite 10.0.105
Pros
apart from free, this 'product' has no pros. All features are disabled; it's about as useful as Adobe Acrobat Reader icons on all desktops.
Cons
teaserware; such a let down. I'll test future Nero products in XP mode.
Summary
CDBurnerXP, BurnAware, or ImgBurn dominate this wannabe program. Nero 6 is better.

"Redundant and spyware-like!"
Version: Nero BurnLite 10.0.105
Pros
Nothing. It doesn't do anything new.
Cons
1. Its featureset does not exceed that of Microsoft Windows burning capabilities.
2. Forces you to install Ask toolbar. Such spyware-like behavior is uncalled for.
3. It is chiefly an advertisement for Nero Multimedia Suite, nothing more.Summary
Bottom line is: Do not download. Do not install. Do not even look at it. Every moment spent with it is wasted.

"Horrible, shameful, evil - do NOT download"
Version: Nero BurnLite 10.0.105
Pros
Nothing. Nero programmers are horrible, and Nero is a pathetic company that has been going down the drain for years now. Nothing is good about this program. Do NOT download it.
Cons
FORCES you to install Ask toolbar. Can't even unselect it as an option. Installation makes you restart your computer (hellooooo its 2010!). Install leaves 3-items in Add/remove programs. Uninstall leaves add/remove errors and registry traces.
Summary
This software is pure junk. The first argument people might say is "well it's free". Sorry but that's no excuse for writing horribly designed code with bloatware that you can't even choose to not install.
If you want a REAL, properly written FREE DVD/BluRay burning application, Google CD Burner XP. Great piece of software, no bloatware or adware, simple and free for everyone including businesses.
1. Ask Toolbar FORCED onto your computer. Look, no one wants the stupid Ask Toolbar, OK? We get that you receive advertising revenue from them. Clearly your company is going down the drain so likely Ask is one of your only revenue streams. So you force it down our throats. Unacceptable and shameful tactics. This is literally the ONLY program I've ever installed that does not let you choose to not install adware components. Despicable! Does Nero not realize doing this makes their customers hate them even more?
2. Restart required upon install. Hey, Nero, FYI it's 2010. You can write code that doesn't require restarting your damn computer. How have you not figured this out yet? FREEWARE that's written by the average joe blow doesn't even need you to restart your PC anymore. Time to... get with the times maybe?
3. Uninstall leaves bogus add/remove and registry entries. As I went to uninstall this crapware, low and behold there are TWO entries titled "Nero Burnlite 10" in my add/remove. Are you kidding me? So I remove the first. It leaves two additional entries in my add/remove, Nero Update and Nero Burnlite 10 (what, it's still there?!). Attempting to remove them gives an error, of course. I check the registry afterwards, out of curiosity.. and low and behold.. there's that trusty Nero key with Burnlite 10 registry keys STILL there. Unbelievable. In this day and age of software development, how can Nero still be so sloppy?
My guess is Nero is using the same programmers that were with the company 10 years ago. Clearly they aren't keeping up with the industry. Nero needs to clean house if they want any hope in making a decent, non bloated software that customers would actually trust putting on their computers.
