CNET Editors' review
Nero 8 Ultra delivers a refurbished digital media suite that's still as comprehensive as they come, though now in a more polished wrapper. The installation file is massive; also, once Nero is on your machine, it consumes a hefty serving of memory. Considering all it can do, though, we can only complain so much.
CD- and DVD-burning is still Nero's core; welcome shortcuts for burning and ripping CDs and DVDs are now accessible from the new StartSmart GUI, which is now adorned with a programmable RSS reader. Authoring and burning high-definition CDs and DVDs are added features, and so is the ability to export video files made and edited with Nero to YouTube, MySpace, and MyNero.
Nero 8 Ultra introduces RescueAgent, a tool to recover data from damaged disks, and a gaggle of Vista features, including a one-click desktop gadget for copying CDs.
Despite the cosmetic alterations, Vista support, and enhancements, particularly to Nero Vision, the dramatic changes are slim. However, Nero Ultra 8's significantly faster application launch time and improved usability make the audio, video, photo, data, and home entertainment workhorse that lets you edit MP3s, capture and edit video, record and playback TV, create slide shows, back up data, convert audio files, check your hardware specs, and design disc covers with ease well worth a try.

"Nero shuts down before I can finish my burning session."
Version: Nero 8 Ultra Edition 8.3.2.1b
Pros
Nero 8 is easy to operate and fun to use when it is working right but that is few and far between.
Cons
The menu is hard to work and understand at times but I manage to get the job done when it is working. I am really dissatisfied with it. I liked Nero 7 better than Nero 8. I rarely had any problems with Nero 7. PLEASE HELP ME..

"The worst customer service I have ever encountered"
Version: Nero 8 Ultra Edition 8.3.2.1b
Pros
The program works but it is nothing special.
Cons
This company does not care about it's customers and could care less if you have a problem. Awful. It's incredible they are still in business. I purchased version 8 a few days before version 9, they would not upgrade me to the new version.
Summary
There are plenty of other programs with the same functions, I recommend strongly that you do not buy their product. They have no intention of helping you with any problem whatsoever. The worst customer service ever!!! They have no supervisors available to speak with you, they have no intention of helping you, they don't care if you are unhappy, they won't refund your money, in short, the worst example of customer service and client relations I have ever encountered in my entire career. With this attitude toward their customers they should not be in business.

"Better free applications"
Version: Nero 8 Ultra Edition 8.3.2.1b
Pros
I like it for watching movies only. As for as buring, there are better free applications.
Cons
Every time I've downloaded upgrade, and I'm a paying customer, the file was corrupted. I'm at the point I have to re-install a previous, previous version. What a pain.

"A bit on the bloated side"
Version: Nero 8 Ultra Edition 8.3.2.1b
Pros
Nice variety of tools, if you know how to use them. Similar functionality to the previous versions makes it a little easier to use and navigate.
Cons
Agonizingly slow when loading videos and the product code entry could have been a little more intuitive, especially for those who had downloaded the demo then purchased the media.
Summary
It gets the job done you just have to be extra patient with it.

"Its no different"
Version: Nero 8 Ultra Edition 8.3.2.1b
Pros
I see no pros in this software.
Cons
V-CD, V-DVD, DATA-V-CD-V-DVD. Its pointless! V this and V that! Its not even compatible with most DVD players to even recognize the format.
The old versions do the same useless crap too. -

"High price for small improvements!"
Version: Nero 8 Ultra Edition 8.3.2.1b
Pros
Nero 8 is a fancy eye poping program.........but........Is it really worth the upgrade from Nero 7? IMHO no it is not,Sure it works good and does what it says but, how many people really need all this bloated software?Again Im staying with Nero 7 but you may see things different.
Cons

"Broadly efficient"
Version: Nero 8 Ultra Edition 8.3.2.1b
Pros
Covers a myriad of tasks, is that a pro or a con?
Cons
Too BIG. A version with only a few basic tasks may be in order.
