Though primarily known for its CD- and DVD-burning prowess, the newest version of Nero Ultra proves itself to be a full-fledged media workhorse. We should note the program's downloadable file is big and takes awhile to install; also once Nero is on your machine, it does consume a rather hefty serving of memory. But considering all the application can do, we can only complain so much. The attractive StartSmart GUI opens a clear path for both beginners and advanced users to every aspect of the software suite. CD- and DVD-burning options are as comprehensive as they come, whether you're working with photos, data, music, or video. Other features let you erase discs; convert audio files; capture video; edit photos; make back-ups; check your hardware specs; and create slide shows, custom audio mixes, and disc covers. Version 7 takes things one step further with Media Center-like features that allow you to watch and record TV, as well as manage your entire collection of media. We would like a 30-day trial rather than having the demo expire at the end of the month, but if you time it right, you should be able to get plenty of use out of it. Anyone who uses their computer for entertainment purposes will find Nero Ultra 7 well worth its price tag. Watch the CNET video review of Nero 7 Ultra Edition:

Version: Nero 7 Ultra Edition 7.0.8.2
"horrible and stuck in my registry"
Cons: This program does not uninstall. Its built-in installer does not clean-up everything and neither does the clean-up tool on their website. The registry cleaner on their website did not work for me at all. Don't dowload this--you'll have to go through your registry and manually clean all of it out. I'd give it 0 stars if that were an option.

Version: Nero 7 Ultra Edition 7.0.8.2
"Much better than other versions"
Pros: They improved their interface a bit and still have moderate burning abilities for DVD's or CD ROM's.
This program is also able to read M4A files which many programs are not able to including my more favorite burner program , Roxio (which dissapoints me that they didn't design it to be able to.)
Cons: Burning abilities are nearly the same as other burners but costs moderatly expensive altough it can read rarer files than other programs.

Version: Nero 7 Ultra Edition 7.0.8.2
Pros: A very nice program indeed. Get rid of all your other burn software, this one does it all. Conevert, backup, write disc images, design covers and much more.
Cons: At times it can feel a little too bulky with so many options you probably won't use. Try nero 6 ultra instead, i find it more than enough.
