Though primarily known for its CD- and DVD-burning prowess, the newest version of Nero Ultra proves itself to be a full-fledged media workhorse. We should note the program's downloadable file is big and takes awhile to install; also once Nero is on your machine, it does consume a rather hefty serving of memory. But considering all the application can do, we can only complain so much. The attractive StartSmart GUI opens a clear path for both beginners and advanced users to every aspect of the software suite. CD- and DVD-burning options are as comprehensive as they come, whether you're working with photos, data, music, or video. Other features let you erase discs; convert audio files; capture video; edit photos; make back-ups; check your hardware specs; and create slide shows, custom audio mixes, and disc covers. Version 7 takes things one step further with Media Center-like features that allow you to watch and record TV, as well as manage your entire collection of media. We would like a 30-day trial rather than having the demo expire at the end of the month, but if you time it right, you should be able to get plenty of use out of it. Anyone who uses their computer for entertainment purposes will find Nero Ultra 7 well worth its price tag.Publisher's Description

You can all the things imaginable with your cd/dvd-burning hardware. Very powerful and can choose from easy way or set up more advanced options.

- lots of not very useful programs, the nero home ( or media center ) is a total mess, there are hundreds of better player software available so Nero should focuse only to burning cds/dvds.

Allows you to easilly create and burn music, data, video CD's and DVD's - also supports many more. This application also comes bundled with some added programs to help in some other areas - such as Nero WaveEditor (an audio file editer, recorder).
Cons
The only problem with this application is the big download size - not really a recommended download for dial-up users.

- the overall feeling is sometimes that the program is very heavy and little buggy. The windows not start very fast everytime and sometimes there is weird flashing with the windows.

Solid and reliable disc burning. Avout every imaginable parameter is controllable.
Cons
Good god, is this thing bloated now. Every gizmo under the sun is included, from a CD ripper, to audio editor, to whatever. Like almost any program that tries to "do it all", there are always smaller, cheaper (or free), single-purpose apps that do any one task better. Nero needs to offer a "lite" version, without all the unwanted mess.
The program is so large, the help files are provided separately, and have to be installed manually. A pain.
The program doesn't uninstall cleanly, and leaves all sorts of registry entries and file associations behind. Overall, I would say avoid this version if at all possible, and wait for Nero to clean up its act.

the worst user friendly version of nero ever, go back to nero 6, version 7 has too many bugs, and i could never really get it to work the way i wanted.
