Though primarily known for its CD- and DVD-burning prowess, the newest version of Nero Ultra proves to be a full-fledged media workhorse. The installation file is big and takes awhile to load; also, once Nero is on your machine, it consumes a hefty serving of memory. Considering all it can do, though, we can only complain so much.
The attractive StartSmart GUI opens a clear path for both beginners and advanced users to every aspect of the software suite. The burning options are as comprehensive as they come, whether you're working with photos, data, music, or video. Other features let you erase discs; convert audio files; capture video; edit photos; make backups; check your hardware specs; and create slide shows, custom audio mixes, and disc covers. Version 7 takes things one step further with Media Center-like features that allow you to watch and record TV, as well as manage your entire collection of media.
We would like a 30-day trial rather than having the demo expire at the end of the month, but if you time it right, you should be able to get plenty of use out of it. Anybody who uses their computer for entertainment purposes will find Nero Ultra 7 well worth its price tag.

Version: Nero 7 Ultra Edition Enhanced 7.7.5.1
"Where can I find an older version ?"
Pros: Home DVD Video's can be burnt
Cons: It CANNOT burn a plan CD-Rom anymore.
Can't set the Drive speed any, burns too fast and keep messing up my CD-Roms.
Too Bloted with crap which clogs up and slow the system. Which as well improves the chance of a bad burn.
This crap also removed my better but older version without all the crap.
Recommend downloading the 30 meg version if you can still find it..

Version: Nero 7 Ultra Edition Enhanced 7.7.5.1
"A MAJOR step backwards for Nero!"
Pros: Newest version 7.7.5.1 is very poor. Do not like it. Why can't Nero just create a solid program to start with instead of sell constant beta's fixing MAJOR errors until the next version number hits and then start all over again with the beta game. One solid, stable dependable program. Is that too much to ask for a $80.00 program? Previous versions of Nero 7 are superior and more stable.
Cons: Get your Nero 7, with new Enhanced bugs and more errors than ever before! Come and get it! Will not burn more than one file on CD's/DVD's. The version just before this was much more stable.
Nero 7 has improved the Nero Home, but considering how long it has been since Nero 7 came out and other TV viewing/recording software out there, this is still FAR INFERIOR. It is not intuitive and does not record well at all. Lousy interface, poor programability. Basically, not good.

Version: Nero 7 Ultra Edition Enhanced 7.7.5.1
Pros: Attempting to be the Swiss Army Knife of multimedia applications, Nero Ultimate 7 has over 20 programs that do tasks as simple as burning a DVD to organizing media files and editing video. The suite has many great tools for anyone interested in creating CD, DVD, or hi-def media. It also allows for editing and authoring of audio and video content.
Cons: Way too much in this bundle. Although more tools are ideal, there is no logical break in the installation so that a typical user can avoid more advanced software. This should really be broken into two packages, one for audio and one for video. Too bulky and bloated.

Version: Nero 7 Ultra Edition Enhanced 7.7.5.1
"A feature drenched bloated burning program."
Pros: Comes with more features, options, and subprograms than Nero 6.6 did. Support for HD-DVD. The user interface is visually attractive.
Cons: Interface has been redesigned into a cumbersome mess. The simple clean interface of Nero Burning in 6.6 is gone and user is forced to use the updated Nero SmartStart to do all burning from. This will probably not be an issue to a new casual user of Nero but for heavy users the interface gets in the way too much. Also old timers will have to re-learn how to use Nero a bit. Note: I did not experience the major bugs that some users reported. Then again, I switched back to 6.6 after a couple of days of use.

Version: Nero 7 Ultra Edition Enhanced 7.7.5.1
Pros: Very complex so it can do most anything
Cons: Very complex, so it balks at even simple tasks. I have removed it from all computers and have gone to Free Easy Burner, which is much better for my needs. Also much too expensive. Nero constantly crashes computers also.
