    "Great Product for the Mac!"

    December 21, 2009  |   By medmagic

Small footprint. Easy to use. Great way to organize and remove clutter.

Missing some features that Windows version has.

Not sure what product previous reviewer is commenting on. First, this product was only ported to the Mac last year, so I'm assuming he/she is commenting on a Windows product (or maybe an entirely different product!). OCR is quirky at times, but I started with v 1.0, and they've (almost weekly at times) steadily pushed out updates, and have been very reachable when issues arise.

I was a Visioneer Paperport user for years, and was looking for a new solution when Visioneer stopped supporting the Mac version. Saw NeatReceipts (now NeatWorks) at Costco, but only had Windows version at the time, and I didn't want to have to open up Parallels every time I wanted to scan a doc. When the Mac version came out, I gave it a shot. Best thing, (unlike Paperport, which created a proprietary scanned doc), NW scans docs as PDF's (which is why the previous review makes no sense to me), so there are no worries about not being able to open your scanned docs in the future.

I scan everything from store receipts (ever needed one of those silly things 6 months later, only to find it's faded into a blank white piece of paper?), receipts for tax purposes, docs I need to sign (which can now be emailed instead of faxed). Allows you to set up folders for archiving, even adds a Print menu item, so you can "print" docs, internet receipts, etc. directly to NW. I, for one, am extremely pleased to have a relatively low-cost solution that enables me to maintain an almost paperless office!
