"Simple, powerful renaming utility, and it's free"
Version: NameChanger 2.3.1
Pros
Simple but powerful renaming utility. Super easy to use. And it is free. And it works with OS X Lion
Cons
None that I can see.
Summary
Thanks to the developers. Great little utility.

"Does what it says."
Version: NameChanger 2.2.2
Pros
Easy to use and works well.
Cons
It doesn't appear in the drop down menu of files. Which means you have to open the app and add the files you want to the change list. It's isn't too annoying, but it's an extra step than my fav renamer for pc BulkRenameUtility.
Summary
It's free, it works and it will save you heaps of time if rename a lot of files.
-

Summary
If you need to keep a large number of files organized, this is the program for you.

Easy to use and foolproof. Lets you preview the changes as you type so there is to question as to the results. Highly recommended.
Cons
No cons. What else can I say?
Summary
No brainer

"Intuitive and Easy"
Version: NameChanger 2.2.2
Pros
Does exactly what I expected it to do.
Cons
Could find one yet.
Summary
I use Mac and PC, and I gotta say this is the hands-down winner of the free file renaming programs I've used. So fast, easy, and very intuitive.

"Good program effective in batch filename changing"
Version: NameChanger 2.2.2
Pros
Many options for changing.
Cons
A bit complex for the novice. There's a learning curve to figure out how to use the options. Handy.
Summary
I used this and keep it in my quiver. However, after a tip I tried Name Mangler and have been using this as my primary app for batch renaming.

"I'm very pleased"
Version: NameChanger 2.2.1
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I downloaded this with a little trepidation - a few hundred downloads but no one had reviewed it. I also wondered how intuitive the tool would be. I needed to rename a few hundred files quickly.,
The download and install were simple. I dragged NameChanger to the applications folder and fired it up. I noticed it had spotlight integration, so I typed in the string I wanted to match. The list of files wanted appeared in the left side, so I selected all the ones I wanted, which was easy because they were correctly grouped. Then I typed in the string I wanted to replace on the left, the string I wanted on the right, and clicked the replace button. The replacement happened so fast I had to go check to see if all the files actually had changed. They had!
I am pleased to give this product my highest recommendation for replacing file names. It took less time to rename hundreds of files than it did to write this review. The tool is smart, intuitive (didn't even need to search for instructions), well done!

"Good for two-byte characters"
Version: NameChanger 2.1.1
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
Though this takes some getting used to how it works, it can handle two-byte characters and that is better than the other renaming applications I have looked at so far.
I'm having to use the 1.3 version though because the latest only supports Leopard. -
"Freakin' awesome"
Version: NameChanger 2.0
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I'll echo what's already been stated here: I've been looking for a simple, direct, easy - but powerful - file renamer for quite some time. NameChanger fits the bill perfectly.
Bonus: Unlike several other similar utilities, it accepts drag-n-drop. So, I add it to my Finder window toolbar, and can easily rename one (or several) items without even having to think to launch the app first. This is how it should be: It Just Worksâ?¢.
Perfect implementation. Major kudos to the developer for not only recognizing the concept of Occam's Razor, but for implementing it in his software products. -
"Works great, simple, elegant, useful. Well-done."
Version: NameChanger 2.0
Summary

Does what it says it does, simply and elegantly. Append, prepend, delete by character position, find/replace, number, add date, and more. Used it under Leopard, no problems. Rec'd.
