"Why buy it? Name Changer does this for free"
Version: Name Mangler 2.5.1
Pros
I guess it does what it claims to do
Cons
Why should you pay for this when a nearly identical product (Name Changer) is free?
Summary
Don't spend money when perfectly good free versions exist.

"A great app, so simple to use!"
Version: Name Mangler 2.4.6
Pros
You have to re-size your windows before you use this great little app, but it works very well. Once you have blocked your files, just drag them over to the NameMangler window and play with the possibilities. You can rename dozens of jpegs in seconds. I wish there was a similar one for my pc at work!
Cons
There aren't any cons.

"Name Mangler is a Great Tool!"
Version: Name Mangler 2.2.3
Pros
Primarily I use it to rename my photos after importing them from my camera onto my Desktop. I do this before importing them into the photo editing app on my MacBook Pro. This gives each photo a meaningful name that helps in searches and organizing.
Cons
No cons that I can think of. The program does all I ask it to and does it well.
Summary
The several options for renaming files is a real plus. I've been nothing but satisfied with the program and consider it one of my favorite apps. It's easy to learn and simple to use. Highly recommended. The developer did a really nice job.

"Great Software"
Version: Name Mangler 2.2.1
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
There are several batch file renamers out there but what makes this one stand out is the ability not to sort the files. I had a large number of files that are almost in order, sort by name, then turn off sort, drag files in the correct order, add numbering prefix, and rename. I have not seen any product that does this. I used it once, and purchased it immediately. For $10, its a great deal, saved me a LOT of time. -
"Best batch file renamer you'll ever use."
Version: Name Mangler 2.0
Pros
Easy to understand and use. Create a droplet, with one click, for repeat jobs -- easier and quicker for simple renaming than Automator.
Cons
Combining name conversions in a single step requires using the built-in "name conversion description language (NCDL)", which is simple but requires a few more minutes to learn than using strictly the gui.
Summary
Any 'Essential Mac Apps' list without Name Mangler is incomplete.

"Great! Works well for me."
Version: Name Mangler 2.0
Pros
It's handy.
Cons
Wish there were more batch options to choose from.
Summary
Have thousands of jpgs I moved over from my broken window day makes renaming them a breeze. I also had a problem where many of the files were missing their extensions. It makes fixing them easy.
