"Refused to recognize the damaged drive."
Version: NTFS Data Recovery 2.5
Pros
It was free to try. No harm done.
Cons
The drive in need of repair did not even show up in the dialogue box. If the demo is limited to only one drive then the description should say so.
Summary
I neither like nor dislike this product . . . it simply did not serve my needs, ie. recognizing and restoring files on a hard drive. Other demo programs like Easy Recovery and Pandora Recovery and GetDataBack found files Beware, though, the program wants to put a "Smart PC Toolbar" in your Internet Explorer browser. If you care about your privacy, do not accept the offer. May you have better luck with this program than I did.

"Amazing Recovery of All My Files!"
Version: NTFS Data Recovery 3.24
Pros
When my hard drive crashed, I thought I'd have to take it to a professional place to see if they could restore my files, but a friend suggested I try this. I paid $99 (a huge amt of money at the time) and downloaded it from CNET. And it worked! Other than a few family photos, it recovered all of my business and personal Word files, programs and utilities. And it was easy to use! I am so glad I found it!
Cons
It took several hours for it to recover all of my files--much longer than I had anticipated although I honestly didn't know how long it would take. But it worked, and it was well worth the money spent and time invested to run it.
