Version: Music DVD Creator 1
"Great idea, horrible execution"
Pros: This product has a slightly amateurish GUI to work with, and very limited functionality, but it's quite easy to figure out how to use and most functions are pretty clear-cut - meaning little to no glancing at instructions to begin using the software.
Cons: There are way too many drawbacks for me to list them all here reasonably, so I'll cover about five of the bigger points. 1) THE DVD'S YOU BURN are about 50/50 in terms of chances of them working. And that is me being very very very generous - I never actually got one to burn correctly. There must be a magic hardware combination somewhere that might work...but really wasting a DVD to just see if this program works is probably not recommended.
2) Lack of customization is PAINFULLY prevelant. You are given a set of templates to work with and THATS IT. That may simply be the trial limitations but if you're going to offer a time-restriction trial as opposed to a functionality trial...well, I'll leave it at that.
3) Drive detection is very bad on this program. When you put a new DVD into the drive you have to go in and out of the "burn" portion of the process to get it to detect the DVD. Then it lags, long after windows has detected the media. Thats just plain ugly.
4) Lack of preview-on-the-fly. You have to compile the whole damn DVD before you can see how it looks, which takes not only a lot of time but a lot of patience if you need to do a number of different edits.
5) This program was obviously written by someone who was not originally english, and the numerous grammatical errors found around the program's help file and even on the startup splash screen itself are kind of weak for a program that wants you to pay $40.00. There's better value for that money elsewhere. Avoid this program until some major updates are released. (Written RE: Version 1.0)
