"BLASTS BILL'S WMV BUT FALLS AT LAST HURDLE. PITY"

by sysiphusrocks on March 18, 2009

Pros: For same ease of use gives all of Bill's finest turned up to 11. Gates could've given us multitracking but imagining us all a bit stupid (bought Vista didn't we? doh) thought not to trust us with multitracking, frankly a bit bleddy essential, hello..

Cons: Only gripe but capital G.ripe is screen size (unless now improved), as in ..How are you supposed to edit a film y o u c a n't fkkn s e e ?? --- this i think is what you call shooting yourself in both feet and the head too just in case..

Summary: I've enjoyed totally positive experience with this apart from screen size mentioned above (and excepting the aching screen refresh waits on anything less than a NASA super cruncher). I've tried communicating possibly a bit over tersely my thinking regards screen size (at about 3cm you can have NO idea of nuance, blockiness, relative gammas, contrasts, whatever) and the absurdity that translates to given the actual v i s u a l purpose of the tool but unless things have changed, and at last checking, to zero effect. Nobody puts square wheels as standard on a car as far as I know and I would have imagined that if old Bill can equip his WMV numptie vid editor with a decent size screen then Multiquence could be similarly doted. Not having done the necessary math regards trade offs in speed v file size and so on I could well be speaking out of turn --- i mean i don't really think the maker would really want to give us a virtually invisible screen but if it's just that the sums are prohibitive how about a 'full preview mode' where you crunch just ten seconds' worth to a screen of decent size just for diagnostics re colour, mix and quality --- all of which undiscernible on the tiny screen? If it took even 5 mins to process, believe me it would save a shed load of time you otherwise lose crunching the whole damn film just to find it all blocky as hell with all the mixing no better than guesswork. Thanks for listening. Apart from the big downer, and especially given the price, divine little piece of kit and wishing the company every further sucess.
