"The Standard for Golf Scoring on the Mac"
Version: Mulligan's Eagle 2.1.1
Pros
Scoring capabilities for almost any form of golf competition you can dream up. Perfect for the play-day chairman. Stats and handicapping for any number of clubs, golfers, rounds and events. A solid Mac-only application. Great documentation.
Cons
This is a hefty piece of software. It's not likely you'll be able to use all the different goodies in it - although the documentation will help. It helps if you're a golfer!
Summary
Aside from keeping my own scores and verifying my handicap, which is available in lots of applications, this one allows me to set up "games" for our golf group - and takes care of EVERYTHING - event registration, handicaps and allowances, scorecards, scoring and even tie-breaking. It takes a brief effort to set up the information about your own golf club - it needs everything that appears on the club's scorecard - but once that's done the rest is pretty easy.
There's a 200-plus page user's manual in PDF form that provides detailed information about everything Eagle can do. It'll do club handicapping and match play betting stuff, which I haven't used. The software works in trial mode for a while and you can buy it right from the application.
If you're a Mac user and a golfer, it's hard to believe you wouldn't be without a copy of Mulligan's Eagle. The Mulligan people are helpful too about questions. They're building a online database of golf courses for (and by) their customers that you can download.
