"WHY THE NVIDIA/DISCRETE DEPENDENCY? KILLS BATTERY LIFE!"
Version: MozyHome 2.2.0.145
Pros
There is no PRO until the CON is fixed. This has been brought to their attention countless times with no fix.
Cons
This is just a simple backup utility. There's absolutely no need whatsoever for it to utilize the NVIDIA chipset and therefore KILL my laptop battery life.
Summary
This has the potential to be a good off-site/cloud back-up solution but even if it were a four-to-five star rating for that alone, it would be knocked back down to the one-to-two star rating just because it takes hold of the NVIDIA chipset and almost cuts in half the battery life of a laptop computer. None of the other competitors do this. What is the deal?

"2011 online sup only--MozyH & MozyPro used for 4 yrs."
Version: MozyHome 2.1.2.94
Pros
Simple interface. 2009 needed assistance and reached a human within seconds.
Cons
latest update broke backup config on 3 cpu using MozyPro. no backup for 6 days. Backups would stall at 80%. No response email or phone. Tried calling sales dept. to get tech support- was trans to never ending "please wait for next available..."
Summary
looking for new service. 150.00 per year for 5 GB on MozyPro is now a rip if I can't reach Tech Support. I've been customer of MozyPro 4 years. Wondering where exactly that 5 GB of business information went when it disappeared from Mozy after update.

"Great when unlimited, now a price hike."
Version: MozyHome 2.1.1.88
Pros
Works in the background.
Cons
Very slow. Takes weeks to complete back-up if not months
Summary
Now the terms are changing, I too, will be changing my back-up provider.
Very disappointing. -
"No Longer Interested in Home Consumer Business"
Version: MozyHome 2.1.1.88
Pros
Had a good run for several years.
Was cost-effective and relatively stable.Cons
Recent software releases (2.0+) have been buggy.
New pricing structure makes it no longer cost-effective for users with more than 50 - 100Gb of data. As folks are storing more and larger files, the effected group will grow.Summary
This used to be a great company for your fire-and-forget home backup solutions. They have apparently chosen to abandon the consumer backup market by dropping their unlimited offerings, drastically increasing prices, and rolling out the changes in such a way as to seemingly purposefully alienate a significant portion of their customer base (25% by their public estimates so likely much higher).
A big part of offsite, online backup storage is the time spent on the initial upload from your local drives. Since Mozy has now shown a) a willingness to drastically reduce the horizon for their customers and b) an unwillingness to support/accommodate long-term users, I would strong encourage those considering the service to not start a long-term relationship with this company. Again, this is all speculation since their public communications on this change have been largely opaque -- but it seems like either a) they're moving out of this industry market intentionally or b) they're in the kind of serious financial distress that would trigger such a Hail Mary pricing change. Either way, neither option points towards a long-term viability. And long-term viability is what large, offsite/online backup solutions are all about. -
"Mozy continues to be acceptable."
Version: MozyHome 2.1.0.49
Pros
It works as expected.
Cons
Nothing so far...
Summary
I've used Mozy for several years and I am satisfied with the product.

"Could Be Excellent"
Version: MozyHome 2.1.0.49
Pros
Saving is virtually instant and effortless.
Cons
There is NO support for this, the free MozyHome application. I know, I've written them seven times with no response at all.
Summary
The free Mozy does work very well. However, I forgot my password so could not login a second time. Repeatedly I entered my address and the four numbers required to have an email sent to me to reset my password. The email never came. Pleas for help were ignored. Apparently only the purchased version(s) are supported. Now, I can't even totally uninstall the program because one has to login first.

"Does Not Work: Stay Away"
Version: MozyHome 2.0.0.553
Pros
Mozy was once great but now they are trash

Summary
Check their user forms on their website before you trying this item

"Don't waste your time"
Version: MozyHome 1.8.0.283
Pros
? ? ? ? ? ? (enough characters?)
Cons
Not reliable on Mac ? haven't tried Windows version.
No helpful support.Summary
Yes, I spent money on that thing. Initially, early 09, it worked good enough to trust them.
Anyway, lesson learned. -
"Don't use Mozy on a Mac"
Version: MozyHome 1.8.0.283
Pros
Unlimited storage...I needed to backup about 100 gig.
Cons
Doesn't work reliably, at least on a Mac
Summary
I first bought Mozy for my Mac (OS 10.6) in Sept. of '09 for one year. It didn't work initially. Their tech support had me install/re-install several times, and it eventually worked. It then continued working until July '10, after which it the backups began failing with "connection lost" errors. Their tech support person kept telling me to try things, but the commands she suggested I try didn't exist in the interface. (I have the strong suspicion that Mozy looks different on Windows vs. Mac, and she didn't realize that different commands were needed on a Mac. I had to send her a screen shot to convince of what I was seeing.) More importantly, even after multiple emails and an hour on the phone. the problem never got fixed. Indeed, the only substantitve thing they ever suggested doing is re-installing. Rather rudely, as I kept on sending messages to have the problem fixed, I stopped hearing from them altogether. I told them in July they had a month to fix the problem before I renewed for another year (in Sept.). Since they couldn't get it to work, I just let the subscription expire.
In conclusion, I suspect that (a) Mozy is just not very reliable on Macs and (b) it was not worth their while trying to figure out why it wasn't working for a single user (me) on a platform which is not their main source of revenue (Macs). If you're a Mac user, I strongy suggest looking for another solution besides Mozy. -
"Windows works, Mac is crap"
Version: MozyHome 1.7.3
Pros
Great concept, when it works it's great.
Cons
The Mac client is crap. I have a PowerMac G5 and PowerBook 13" both have had nothing but problems with the client (on Lepard and Snow Lepard). Constent erros, and failed backups. It always seems to forget what is backed up? was it 250GB or 7MB?
Summary
I abandoned the Mac client and now just copy my files onto my Windows box every once in a wile and let the Windows client do the backup. I just dont have the bandwidth (thanks Comcast) to constently re-upload 200GB of music, movies and files becasue the client screws up.
