"Very good alternative to the Outlook."
Version: Mozilla Thunderbird 16.0.1
Pros
Intuitive. Import Outlook contacts and folders.
Cons
No wingdings fonts (if some smiles, but not the font), and the mails received with this font and others are difficult to read. Outlook rules are better. No button to access the address book from writing an email. Sometimes I can copy and paste text messages received. Insert multiple email addresses in Outlook is easier with the window that can be sent to the CO, CC or CCC.
Summary
While it has some limitations against Outlook, being a free, turns the balance towards this product. It's weird not having Wingdings font has some smiles but not the complete font.

"Excellent default e-mail program for Windows."
Version: Mozilla Thunderbird 16.0.1
Pros
Comprehensive; secure; easy to use for News, POP and IMAP accounts; clean set up of accounts; installs easily; Good GUI, with themes available; handles add-ons; updated regularly and automatically by Mozilla, and the app is Free.
Cons
Spam filtering, though adequate, is limited. Recommend using 'Spamihilator' with TB for comprehensive filtration.
Summary
Nice app, give it a shot.

"Using Thudnerbird now is horrible!"
Version: Mozilla Thunderbird 16.0.1
Pros
Loved the simplicity and able to switch between e mail names.
Cons
Having a problem now (says it can't empty the trash under one name and won't hold passwords on others.
biggest con is I can't get help!!Summary
Having two major major problems. Out of the blue I am getting messages that says Thunderbird can't fetch my deleted items to empty them. Also won't hold some e mail passwords. I have deleted all the e mails names and put them back in. Have deleted Thunderbird all together, twice, and still keeps on doing this. Have posted on the forum of Thunderbird for help with no response. Trying desperately to find an alternative as I can't keep dealing with this. It just is horrible that I can't get help. So will have to find another system.

Cons
Had to redo my filters! No real big deal!

"This revies is for version 14..."
Version: Mozilla Thunderbird 15.0
Pros
EASY to install
Clean uncluttered screen
FastCons
None that I can think of.
Summary
I'm just an ordinary email user, I don't need anything fancy. All I wanted was an email link in my taskbar now that I have Win7.
Downloaded eM Client and it would not send an email. Gone.
So after reading the reviews for Thunderbird 15 I decided to search for Thunderbird 14 :) and I am VERY pleased so far. All I had to do was enter my email and password and it's working perfectly.
I would have posted this on the version 14 page but could not find it again. -
"Not the Thunderbird I have been using for a long time."
Version: Mozilla Thunderbird 15.0
Pros
It started out okay... a little sexier interface, but somewhat Mac-like, with the faded looking tabs. Little did I know what was about to happen.
My history with Thunderbird as a mail client has been stellar most of the time, but this may be the last straw, as mistakes go.
Read the cons.Cons
Every now and then this email client makes a bad move, but this one has been a really bad one for me. I try to keep my numerous mail folders cleaned and small, but now my inbox folder is corrupted, according to the Mozilla website. I get the same emails day after day... some can't be seen, but they keep returning, after numerous deletions. The cure is so complex and difficult to understand, it makes my neck hurt. But most of all, the advice doesn't tell you what has happened... only what MIGHT have happened, among the numerous possibilities. I didn't like Outlook Express, many years ago, so I switched to Thunderbird... now I want OE back again. I dislike the very idea of Facebook and Twitter, so this hurts my communications, since my POP mail provider is not much more reliable to use as webmail. Sometimes I can't even log onto their mail site.
Summary
I'm on Cnet looking for another email client, because troubleshooting and suggested fixes from Mozilla have made the program un-backupable... if that's a word. Essentially, I will be starting over, without my email purchasing log from 2007 through to today. Oh well... the various websites have order histories... now if I could remember all of those orders, to know where to look.

"Performance hog, extremely slow"
Version: Mozilla Thunderbird 15.0
Pros
It has built in chat for Facebook and other messenger applications.
Cons
Once it updated to version 15, it became unusable. Performance was extremely slow, constant "Not responding" errors, upwards of 58% cpu usage and 520k memory usage. It slowed my entire laptop down. I reinstalled version 14 and now Thunderbird's performance is great again, cpu usage is down around 2% and memory usage is at 360k.
