    "DON'T BOTHER!!!!! USELESS!!"

    February 11, 2014  |   By Rayanna77

    Version: Mozilla Thunderbird 24.3

    Pros

No pros, anything you can do with this email you can do with any other email.

    Cons

EVERYTHING!!!! Especially since we (the company I work for) pays for this program and it won't even let me log on. My password doesn't work apparently and the customer service is literally non existent. They don't even have an online tech support. If you can't answer your own question your SOL.

    Summary

Mozilla Thunderbird is a huge waste of time, money and emotion. I'm so frustrated with it.

    "NOT user friendly!"

    January 31, 2014  |   By lhakons

    Version: Mozilla Thunderbird 24.2

    Pros

    Can't think of one.

    Cons

Not user friendly to people who don't understand technical language.

NO way to archive folders (that I could find)

NO way to find info on my specific question

    DON'T BOTHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Summary

I wanted to archive my YAHOO email offline, and I found an article that said I could do it with Thunderbird. I signed up awhile ago and it seemed to archive everything fine. But I have--scratch that--HAD--some quasi-sensitive things on YAHOO, and I decided I wanted to save it offline to Thunderbird, then delete it off Yahoo. Being cautious, I tested deleting one email from that folder, but then it got deleted off Thunderbird. Fine, I thought. I'll rename the folder on Thunderbird. It renamed the folder on Yahoo. I could not find a way to save stuff offline and get rid of it on Yahoo. And somehow the renamed folder ended up in the TRASH folder and I couldn't recover it. Guess what? It was deleted off YAHOO, too! So now I've lost the very info I had wanted most to save! Support forums were unhelpful--they speak in terms that make sense to people who know what the heck an .sdb file is. I don't. And there's NO WAY to contact Mozilla for actual direct support. Unless you're a programmer or far more versed in this than I am, don't bother. Find another way. This program is not user friendly AT ALL.

    "S-l-l-l-o-w"

    January 12, 2014  |   By MAFinOKC

    Version: Mozilla Thunderbird 24.2

    Pros

Flexible, multiple profiles are easy, can handle IMAP and POP.

    Cons

Under Win 8.1 64-bit, current Thunderbird version is PAINFULLY slow. Marking Spam messages as Not Spam does not automatically move them back to the Inbox. Filtered sort results are not displayed in a convenient format. Attempting to bulk Move large numbers of messages causes the program to crash. I get frequent error messages that autoupdate could not be performed.

    Summary

Despite my dislike of Microsoft, at present I find Windows Live Mail and Outlook.com easier to use than T-bird because although Live Mail is also slow, it's much faster than T-bird. I hope that Mozilla can fix this.

    "Updates keep ruining it."

    December 23, 2013  |   By w.shows

    Version: Mozilla Thunderbird 24.2

    Pros

Good layout. Everything I need is there.

    Cons

Can not view images automatically, which really bothers me. No help online. Deleting of inbox messages is extremely slow, now. Was not before one of the numerous updates. Recommendation: download an old version and disable updates.

    Summary

    Still better than the others.

    Updated on Dec 23, 2013

Program frequently stops responding, esp when deleting numerous messages. This is also a new problem

    "Thunderbird's Atrophy Has Set In"

    December 5, 2013  |   By nwberean

    Version: Mozilla Thunderbird 24.0

    Pros

    Losing "Pros" daily
    It loads fast
It has a good address book and ability to handle multiple groups

    Cons

Occasionally takes too long to download mail providing it doesn't time out first
It will not always show the ability to "Delete" junk mail

    Summary

This program was great in its first years but tinkering and "updates" have bogged the system down as others have mentioned.
Am on release 24.1.1 and it is worse than before.
From discussions w/Mozilla staff they are not actively supporting Thunderbird as I've presented problems they cannot solve. Disappointed.

    "This is about Daily (>)"

    November 28, 2013  |   By MAFinOKC

    Version: Mozilla Thunderbird 24.0

    Pros

    Very flexible and versatile.

    Cons

PAINFULLY slow, subject to freezes and hangs, and when it freezes, so does the entire system.

    Summary

I was looking for the 64-bit version of Thunderbird. What I found was something called Daily in some places and Thunderbird in others. After installation, it called itself Daily. Apparently Daily contains the latest updates that may or may not be stable. Well, it isn't stable. If there is a stable 64-bit version of Thunderbird, I can't find it.
