    "3.1.7 still asks for password"

    December 10, 2010  |   By noahrogers

    Version: Mozilla Thunderbird 3.1.7

    Pros

I read that 3.1.7 would not ask for a password so I down loaded it. About every 4th time I open thunderbird it asks for a password.

    Cons

    Keeps asking for password

    Summary

    overall I like it.

"It's simple and it works for me"

    December 10, 2010  |   By CManley

    Version: Mozilla Thunderbird 3.1.7

    Pros

It does everything outlook express did when I switched and once I got the hang of it, the program grew on me.

    Cons

sometimes I make changes and can't remember how I did it

    Summary

I've used Thunderbird for 5 years. I'm now on my 3rd PC and I've been able to keep what I want in archive by using MOZBACKUP. This let me go from Windows 2000 to XP to 7 without a hitch.

"Limited capability and poor import functionality"

    December 7, 2010  |   By stanmsak

    Version: Mozilla Thunderbird 3.1.6

    Pros

Not much so far. I'll be replacing it shortly and removing it from my laptop.

    Cons

Inability to import contacts from Outlook files is a show stopper for me. Lack of calendar function is also a hindrance. This is far from a replacement for Outlook.

    Summary

I was very disappointed given how well Firefox works as an alternative to IE. You would be better off just using your e-mail provider's on line functions than using this as a local e-mail client.

    "mostly works fine"

    December 4, 2010  |   By CaseyAzalea

    Version: Mozilla Thunderbird 3.1.6

    Pros

Been using Thunderbird for years, it's still a great, straightforward email program. Fast and simple. Just as good as Outlook, but free and less complicated.

    Cons

Haven't been able to set it up to get messages from my isp server; once it chooses IMAP or POP you can't change it and have to start over.
I tried the the Lightning add-on but I wasn't too impressed. Still looking for a good calendar program.

"If You Want A Product That "Just Works" This Isn't It"

    December 1, 2010  |   By JonnyEFL7

    Version: Mozilla Thunderbird 3.1.6

    Pros

IMAP support, advanced folder organization, and a Calendar with Reminders in latest versions, clean interface, stable software for the most part (rarely if even crashes).

    Cons

I had a heck of a time getting it set up and even then continue to have issues. Email font changes randomly during composing an email, attachments get corrupted when I save them to my desktop

    Summary

Probably best to bite the bullet and support the evil software giant and buy Outlook.
