"FF v.31 has some new features, but it's still a failure"

    July 25, 2014  |   By wyzwyk

    Version: Mozilla Firefox 31.0

    Pros

Add-on extensions are, and have always been, the best part of the Firefox user experience.

    Cons

The Australis GUI may be fine for neophytes or Firefox users that need some hand holding when it comes to organizing add-ons, but this user interface simply doesn't work well for power users. Why else would the extension Classic Theme Restorer be so popular? With 627 reviews 612 have 5 stars, 14 with 4 stars, 1 that has 3 stars, and none with 1 or 2 stars. This extension saves Firefox. I don't know what I'd do without it.

    Summary

Six weeks have gone by since Firefox v.30 was released, so today I downloaded and installed the newest version. What's new? Well, for desktop users, this version sports a search field on a new tab page. This allows users to start new searches without having to go to the search bar. There is also a malware detection and blocker feature that runs by default whenever users download files. If not wanted it can be turned off. As a Linux user I wouldn't have use for this feature, but for Windows users I could see this being very useful. More and more download sites are allowing applications to piggyback on the desired primary download, and let's face it, way too many users are not careful when reading the instructions on how to opt-out on these downloads. Also included in v.31 is some sort of parental control. There are a number of other new features with this release, but most are for developers. In this release cycle Mozilla posted that 3,025 bugs were found and fixed. While all these changes and bug fixes are nice the change I most wanted still goes unaddressed, that of getting rid of that awful Australis Gui that has been with us since version 29. The only way this browser is remotely useable for me is with the help of the Classic Theme Restorer extension. For Firefox power users it's a must have add-on. The features in this extension should have been built into the browser, but as we all know Mozilla, for unknown reasons, committed to a minimalist only GUI. It would have been nice if they had listened to the many users who tried the pre-release versions and voiced their negative feelings on them. Sadly, their words went unheeded and we are now saddled with Australis.

"AOL toolbar not available for 31.0"

    July 23, 2014  |   By opulence625

    Version: Mozilla Firefox 31.0

    Pros

The only change in version 31.0 from previous versions is the lack of the aol toolbar.

    Cons

the newest version 31.0 does allow an aol toolbar. They should have notified there users of this change before downloading it.

    Summary

    Updated on Jul 23, 2014

Can not view my Facebook page on version 31.0 either. Mozilla Firefox should debug upgrades before issuing them. How do I go back to a previous version?

I used to like firefox. but when they changed the interface, I really don't like it. By now, I prefer to IE 11. They should not use rounded edges. of the tabs.

    Pros

None at all to be put here

    Cons

Where do I begin this browser was so bad I thought my computer had a virus. It freezes crashes and burns that is all it did. This browser does not deserve the #1 spot. I have Opera and it is the best Browser I have ever had smooth and fast.

"Not worth the trouble anymore removed it from my PC"

    June 26, 2014  |   By musicman4you

    Version: Mozilla Firefox 30.0

    Pros

    That it is open sourced

    Cons

To many to mention.Just read the other reviews they already said it.To be honest I wish I could go back to Firefox version 3.6 that I always used.Seems like it started going downhill after 3.6.

    Summary

I can't recommend this to anyone and don't trust Google Chrome on Privacy.I can't recommend the newer stripped down version of Opera anymore but I can tell you that I would and do recommend the Pale Moon browser that is open source just like Firefox with hundreds of features and will use Firefox Add-ons.Pale Moon in my opinion is the best Browser out there out of all of them. With all of these other Browsers going downhill I have been using Pale Moon for over a month and it is awesome. If you are fed up with the other Top browsers like me give Pale Moon a try and download it from there site with a google search.Be sure and download the right version for your computer. They have a 32 bit and 64 bit version plus a Linux version. They are making an Android version also. The other browsers could learn or should learn from Pale Moon.It is awesome.

    June 24, 2014  |   By jetgraphics

    Version: Mozilla Firefox 30.0

    Pros

It was once the best browser. But no more.

    Cons

    Where do I begin?
    Facebook - slow - hang -
Play back of videos - locks up or no show
Play back of audio files - sometimes
Keeps eating memory and slows down even more

    Summary

I am forced to go to CHROME, for only it "plays nice."
