"I can't rate this browser highly enough."

    March 24, 2005  |   By minty95

    Version: Mozilla Firefox 1.0.2

    Pros

What's not to like? It's free, secure, and has all the features i want (tabbed browsing, a bookmarks pane that's always visible, RSS handling) and none that i don't. If you need more there are literally hundreds of easy-to-add extensions - my favourite? I must not fear 1.0, try it!

    Cons

Ok, ok, call me shallow but safari and camino just look better.

"What a Web browser should be!"

    March 23, 2005  |   By Free as a bird

    Version: Mozilla Firefox 1.0.2

    Pros

Although out of the box Firefox is not much of anything else but a great web browser. You control what goes and what stays unlike other browsers.. With a Few configurations changes and tinkering a-bit it has became my all-time favorite browser! It's highly customizable, You can change the speed, the way it works and looks; With lots of Extensions and themes, and css code to choose from. It Has an easy to use interface. I love the Tab browsing features, pop up blocker, high custimizabilty, and the search bar integrated into Firefox. That makes browsing the web easier, safer, and more enjoyable. Heres a few notible extensions I couldn't do without 1.Session saver .2 it saves your session so when you exit out, and come back everything is exactly how it was left. Pages, Tabs, cookies, ect. 2.Adblock- blocks most if not all ads. This update fixes a few things. I can't recommend Firefox enough!

    "Ugly and Unstable"

    March 10, 2005  |   By demothsenes

    Version: Mozilla Firefox 1.0.1

    Pros

Firefox is relatively fast - especially compared to Safari - and displays most web pages properly.

    Cons

For a start, Firefox is just ugly. Even though there are a fair few skins out there, they only appeal if you like the garish. Unfortunately, there is no option for the sleek look of safari. But my real qualm about FF is the number of time pages inexplicably 'die.' What I mean is that for example I won't be able to type in a google search no matter how many times I refresh the page. Eventually, you have to close the window and start again - a real pain if you have a bunch of tabs open.

"Customization makes this browser surpass Opera and all others."

    March 7, 2005  |   By mrfrog

    Version: Mozilla Firefox 1.0.1

    Pros

Unsurpassed customizability. Nearly as fast as Opera after customizing config. Excellent extensions with more inevitably to come. More customizable mouse gestures than Opera. Slickest looking browser (after customization). Very decent tab handling. But most of all, it's open-source: this is something that FF always has over other browsers. If there is something you wish it had, chances are good that someone else thought so too, and wrote an extension to do it. My browser feeds me weather, works with iTunes, blocks all Ads (not just popups), finds directions through MapQuest by highlighting and right clicking, saves my tabs in case of crash, and much more. Customization puts FF way over any other browser, and inches it past Opera's speed, which is a sacrifice for its handling of only 'standards'.

    Cons

Not as fast as Opera, even after customizing the about:config.

    "it's not all that"

    March 3, 2005  |   By knertknert

    Version: Mozilla Firefox 1.0.1

    Pros

    - absolute pro: security.. It lets no spyware through, no pop ups.

    Cons

    - It's not any faster than IE (customize IE folks)

    - The biggest disadvantage is, just like the other browsers, that in the last years, lots of scripts are IE minded, so even in FF things are not always that looking good in websites.

    - And FF has serious probs with java
