"Gets Worse With Each New Version"

December 10, 2013  |  By RandolfS

 |  Version: Mozilla Firefox 25.0.1

Pros

Lots of useful extensions

Cons

Excessive memory usage
Terrible user interface
Becoming less and less customisable
Useful features are regularly removed
Becomes more of a Chrome clone with every release

Summary

Firefox used to be an excellent browser that featured a great many customisation options which allowed the user to configure it to his own preferences. Sadly, things have gone very wrong with Firefox in recent years and it has become extremely unpleasant to use.

The user interface has been dumbed down and is now just a clone of Chrome. Chrome is much faster, more efficient and more stable than Firefox and it's only Chrome's user interface that lets it down. However, if Mozilla are going to turn Firefox into a clone of Chrome then I may as well just use Chrome and take advantage of the extra performance it offers.

The browser is also becoming less customisable. Mozilla used to understand that every user had different preferences so they allowed the user to customise Firefox to match their work style. In recent years Mozilla have abandoned this approach and changed their attitude to, "We know what you want better than you do! We'll tell you how to use Firefox! We don't care about your opinion!"

Useful features such as the status bar and download manager have been removed entirely. This seems to be an act of pure malice and again illustrates Mozilla's "We know best!" attitude. They don't care that some users found these features useful, they instead want to dictate to users how they should use Firefox.

Instead of destroying the user interface and removing useful features I'd much rather Mozilla focused on improving Firefox's stability and reducing its memory footprint. However, it seems they have no interest in improving the browsing and only want to make it worse.

Mozilla's arrogance and incompetence has destroyed a once great piece of software. With such a terrible attitude towards their users it's little wonder that Firefox's market share is in rapid decline. I myself have run out of patience with Mozilla and will be looking for an alternative browser.

RIP Firefox.

"Not as good as previous versions"

November 29, 2013  |  By dragon789wv

 |  Version: Mozilla Firefox 25.0.1

Pros

Seems it's as fast as previous versions, installs fairly easily and quickly.

Cons

I have 3 computers, and recently installed it on my laptop.
No matter WHAT I do, I cannot get it to keep the Home Pages when I restart, unlike other previous versions. I've even compared all the settings on other computers to make sure I still have the same on the laptop. I even checked the settings shortly before I shutdown FF and still see the settings set correctly and that it will keep them when I bring up FF - all looks fine. After shutting down FF and then bringing it up, Home Page still defaults to Google! Aggravating.
Also, it seems that some of the Add-ons are not available any more.
Why does FF do this? I've always thought this product was good; now ...

Summary

Fix the bugs! Put the add-ons back in!

"Yawwwwn, I used better"

November 29, 2013  |  By micaylah

 |  Version: Mozilla Firefox 25.0.1

Pros

Not many. Not one to use if your a researcher. Good for someone who does minimal searches.

Cons

Its like a baby browser. Not enough oomph.

Summary

I still prefer Chrome. While Chrome has it's faults, Firefox is a not enough browser for me.

"A crappy web browser."

November 23, 2013  |  By shayne255

 |  Version: Mozilla Firefox 25.0.1

Pros

I in my opinion I don't see anything great with this browser.

Cons

It stalls it takes a lot of memory and crashes about how many times a day along with the fact they are now forcing australis down our throats.Every single new release they always have to make it look like chrome with the new features. I personally made the switch to chrome and while yes some of you will be like well chrome is more horrible then Firefox cause of the fact that it is not customizable at all. In chrome you get a lot of nice extensions like the adblock plus extension and
the dropbox app. Firefox is a failure written in the books now compared to the days where it was in its glory days. All I see is Mozilla choosing to make Firefox more of a chrome copycat which is downright sad. The Firefox I once new that could've overtaken internet explorer in a heartbeat has become a downright joke. No one will want to use a chrome copycat with the new interface that will come in soon now. To make things even worse it is slow in loading up pages like that of Facebook or YouTube.

Summary

I would not recommend this browser for anyone who has just gotten a brand new computer or reformatted one. It is just not wroth it anymore sadly along with the fact that this is the web browser I chose to install on my netbook when I first got it now whats the point of using Firefox.

 |  Version: Mozilla Firefox 25.0.1

Pros

firefox wants you to abandon their browser.

Cons
