    "I'll stick with Safari."

    July 27, 2005  |   By altoid1

    Version: Mozilla Firefox (Mac) 1.0.6

    Pros

Good interface, intuitive to use. Better than IE, but, no better than Safari.

    Cons

I'm on dial-up and ran a few time tests wth Foxfire and Safari... Safari won all by wide margins--Safari generally took less than half the time of Foxfire to render a page.

"Why use Firefox when you have Safari?"

    July 26, 2005  |   By hatandglasses13

    Version: Mozilla Firefox (Mac) 1.0.6

    Pros

great browser alternative for WINDOWS USERS!

    Cons

Safari blows this application away. Unless there is a very specific feature offered by Firefox, there is no reason to use it over Safari. Safari is faster, has the harked tab browser (which I personally detest and rarely ever use to be honest with you), is secure (can you really even measure browser security on Mac OS?), and in my humble opinion is just a much cleaner, more elegant browser. Firefox for Windows is a necessity... Firefox for Mac is superfluous.

"The perfect broswer for anyone with many added extras."

    July 8, 2005  |   By cgheilman

    Version: Mozilla Firefox (Mac) 1.0.4

    Pros

This program has many skins and is completely customizable. If you still have 10.3 and you want tabbed browsing, Firefox is great with tabbed browsing.

    Cons

Sometimes the interface is slow to load, but the product is so good you should still get it.

"A sleek, simple, easy to use, secure, and overall fast browser for free."

    June 22, 2005  |   By Bridger

    Version: Mozilla Firefox (Mac) 1.0.4

    Pros

Mozilla Firefox is an extremely good, user-supported Open Source alternative to Internet Explorer. It doesn't have the huge security holes that IE does, and when a hole is found, it is fixed quickly. This program being under GPL (General Public License), or Open Source licenseing, allows it to be edited and distributed freely by users. Because users can edit the source code (this is why it is called "Open Source"), bugs and security holes are found and fixed very quickly. I recommend this browser over any other out there, and so do the people at PC WORLD Magazine. In an issue I got earlier in the year, there were three different articles commending it in that one issue. More recently, in the latest issue (June 2005), it has been rated best product of the year. This is out of software, hardware, mp3 players, and web sites.

"Beats Safari and IE hands down"

    June 9, 2005  |   By tristix

    Version: Mozilla Firefox (Mac) 1.0.4

    Pros

Its one of the oly browsers that works with proxies under OS Tiger...

It loads pages faster than other browsers, handling images particularly well.

It has come on leaps and bounds in recent months... cant praise it enough...

    Cons

Not a major thing but it can take a bit longer to load that most on a low power Mac... but the end result always out weighs the very small inconvinience.

    "Awesome Browser"

    April 29, 2005  |   By johnncyber

    Version: Mozilla Firefox (Mac) 1.0.3

    Pros

The best browser out there. Since I downloaded it I have received no 3rd party toolbars, very little spy/adware and next nil viruses. The extra features, themes, and extensions run circles around Internet Explorer. The search toolbar in the top right corner is a very handy feature, not only does it search google, but also ebay, yahoo, altavista and you have the ability to add in your own engines!!! When the Mozilla foundation identifies a bug in the program and releases and update you will instantly notified, no more security holes. The best free download you have ever get!

"a stable release sure to knock out safari"

    April 8, 2005  |   By carlak

    Version: Mozilla Firefox (Mac) 1.0.2

    Pros

the tabs, the no-crashing, the perfect display of all webpages, this is the browser for any mac user. This program is small, it doesn't include any unwanted extras, it loads faster than IE and has everything IE offers (favourites bar, history, download helper) and so much more. You can control passwords, cookies, popup windows with ease and precision. If you've had trouble with spyware this is the program to get. Firefox isn't tricked into auto-downloading anything you don't want. But for me the most important aspect is the design layout of websites. I write the CSS, the HTML and firefox displays it perfectly, no 'IE quirks' or reinterpretations of your work.

    Life is simpler with FireFox!

    Cons

beta versions (pre 1.0) of this program were flaky on Mac, but 1.0.2 hasn't crashed once.
