Version: Moraff's MahJongg 2009 12.0
"Simple, fun, no stress, easy to win the way I play!"
Pros: Simple, large tiles, good options on tile appearance (shadows, etc.), great options on selecting playing difficulty.
Cons: Characters not as clearly defined as in free version, which I still use, even tho' I bought the discs, and like it best. Gave the purchased version to my daughter! Would like more choices of tile designs & better character definition.
Summary: Features improved from my favorite version (the free one). Character design on tiles is not as good. Keyboard shortcuts being in row of Fkeys is less convenient than in older free version - have to move entire hand to use keys. Control-Z would be better for undo and consistent with most programs I use, and hints key should not have been moved. Overall, I like it and will purchase it when my free trial has expired.
There was a version called Shang-hai that had great tilesets and another more primitive free-ware version of Mah-jongg that allowed me to make my own tilesets. That would be a nice addition to this game!
