    Version: Monster and Me 2.5

"Very fun, addictive and cute online game~~^+^"

    by Hayakawa1987 on January 2, 2006

Pros: Most of all, the game is free and always will be, that's one of the most likable features of the game...

The community is very friendly, it's famous for a warm welcome to all players. There are many different things for players to do in the game apart from the usual fighting monsters. For example, you can create KungFu, Items, Weapons and Armour. You can also buy your own home and fill it with furniture, get married and have a family of your own.

There are many beautiful areas, mostly hand drawn, so they are very detailed compared to the rushed efforts of most online games that are automatically conjured up with their 3D engines.

The game pace is also very satisfying, with over 1200 levels and the ability to transform into a God/Devil and live in Hell or Sky City you can train as slow or fast as like.

There is no petty squabbling with other players over silly things like monsters or items in this game, since the battles are random and turn based, you'll have your own private battles.

Although you don't have to fight alone, you can team up with up to 5 friends and battle the monsters together, you can form special battle formations to further enhance your team power.

Finally, there are special challanges for those of you who think you're tough enough to handle it. There are numourous tough quests allowing you to gain amazing pets and items. But overall, there is the Sky Pass, Friend Pass and Couples Pass.

These Sky Passes are 100 floor challanges which you take either alone, with friends, or with your spouse.

The further you go, the better the prize.

There is a lot to find and discover, it's a recommended game to download and play.

Cons: The game is free, so there's very little to dislike. The only gripe I have with the game is that it's too cool for it's own good =)

"Not a bad way to spend some time online"

by NCWeber on February 9, 2006

Pros: Well, the major advantage is that this is a free multiplayer online RPG. The scenery is actually highly detailed and quite lovely to look at. Fight modes of play are straight forward. Expansive world and lots of monsters to choose from for pets.

Cons: Client download is huge (597 MB), so be sure to dowload BitTorrent or BitComet. The download is in RAR format rather than ZIP or a single EXE file. Be sure to download WinRAR. As is typical of online RPGs, you can't control who comes onto the game. Lots of poor behavior from other players. Not recommended for children under 13. Steep learning curve for new players. Information on Web site lacks proper illustrations to make clear their instructions. For a better free online RPG (created by the same Chinese game developer, TQDigital, so game play is similar), try Conquer Online. Better learning curve for newbies (though the company you keep isn't much better)

    "Great Game"

by Keitaro. on March 25, 2006

Pros: Acitve and always alive, a growing population constant growing events.

Cons: Not that many the graphics may seem out of date but I dont have a lightest idea why it would be a MapleStory clone...

FYI shogunu: MonsterandMe was made in 2001 do the math, it was made BEFORE MapleStory so MapleStory is trying to be the clone here.

    "At least it's free..."

    by liz4120 on March 16, 2006

Pros: At least this game is free, cause you'd probably feel like you wasted your money if you had paid for it.

There are a lot of different pets you can capture and raise.

The graphics are somewhat cute but not much you can do to customize your appearance and make yourself different from everyone else.

Leveling up is fairly fast but then there's something like 1300 levels.

Cons: With my cable connection, it still took me over an hour to download the program, plus I had to download WinRar, install the game and patch. Then the display was bugged so I had to search the technical board for solutions (I tried whispering the GM, but apparently they were all offline at the time). I didn't like having to mess around with my computer settings just so I could play this game.

When I finally got that fixed, I had no clue what to do or where to go. As pointed out, the player base seems young and many don't seem to speak English well. Poor translation abounds, in both the game itself and the players.

After attempting to read some tutorials on people's websites and clicking some buttons randomly to see what they did, I figured a few things out.

The fighting system (at least at low levels) is boring. Turn on your autofight, go outside the city and click the fight button. Then sit back and watch. Repeat until you've leveled. Put your points in dexterity and defense, as I've been told they're the only worthwhile attributes, keep fighting. Each spot you're standing on has different monsters at different levels to fight. Unfortunately, you have no real way of knowing what you're going to fight. If you stay in the same spot, you fight the same monsters. If you move a smidge, you might go from fighting level 3 to fighting level 25. Huge problem!

Chatting with people proved difficult as I kept getting a lot of system spam and player spam. The whole chat system seemed subpar to me.

Recap: It's free so you may as well try it, but don't expect it to be great, or even good.

"Great Free Online Game, 1 of my all time favourites"

by ::WilliaM:: on March 6, 2006

Pros: There are so many things i like about this game, the scenery is so beautifull, there are tons of pets with which you can train, fight, raise, compose, etc etc.

If you don't want to raise pets you can raise your cultivation with which you can climb various passes like the Sky Pass or Friend Pass or you can create Kungfu's, earn Virtue Points, etc etc, there are tons of things you can do in monster and me.

The community is one of the most friendly community's ive ever seen.

Trust me, you won't get bored when playing m&m ^^
