CNET Editors' review
The cloud has become a popular term of late, and for good reason: It offers users a convenient way to store and access frequently used files from any location. Mobiledit Lite taps into the cloud's convenience by giving users a way to manage their mobile device on any computer. However, when we put it to the test, it failed to recognize our mobile device after repeated attempts to connect.
During the installation process, a pop-up window asked if we wanted to install phone drivers if we didn't already have them installed. We opted to do so and were taken to the publisher's Web site to download a driver specific to our Apple iPhone. A helpful wizard walks you through the initial stages of pulling info from your mobile device. We told it that we wanted to manage our phone and that we wanted to connect it using a cable or USB. After connecting our iPhone, we clicked Next and the program tried to then make a connection, but to no avail. We clicked the Refresh button, disconnected and then connected our phone again, and even restarted the program, but no luck. It just would not recognize our mobile device. It's a shame, too, because Mobiledit Lite has a seemingly user-friendly interface with easy-access shortcuts to manage video, ringtones, photos, and more. Shortcuts across the top of the window give you access to its Import feature (the Export, Read, Write, and Backup features are disabled in the trial version). The Help feature was pretty sparse and only offered info for activating the program, as well as a list of supported phones (oddly, our phone appeared on the list).
Mobiledit Lite installs and uninstalls without any issues or leaving any files behind. Because we couldn't see the program all the way through to the end, we recommend you save yourself the time and trouble and look for a mobile management program that lets you test drive before you buy.
Editors' note: This is a review of the trial version of Mobiledit Lite 6.9.0.2841.

"Never worked..."
Version: Mobiledit Lite 6.9.0.2848
Pros
Easy uninstall.
Cons
Out of 3 different phones, ie, Samsung, LG840g and Motorola W376, and after downloading their drivers, this product couldn't find a one of them. The first two are brand new, and the Moto is 5 years old. On my computer, when I asked Mobiledit Lite to find my phone, and follow the prompts, one screen tells me to not set the phone for mass storage, however, that's the only option on the phone. My computer shows it as an Unknown USB device, but I can remove the MicroSD card and read/write that with ease. So, I think it's because two of those phones are Tracfones and I believe they block USB connections to computers. The Samsung is from Virgin mobile and it's microSD card is easily read and written to as it's shown as a drive in My Computer. Nowhere can I find in the Mobiledit marketing material info that states that you may have trouble with certain carriers. Nowhere could I find a listing of phone models it wouldn't find either.
Summary
Don't buy this software without checking if your phone is actually found...try it with the lite version.
