"Ditch REAL PLAYER for MIRO,it's much better-"

    January 10, 2011  |   By andreaborman

    Version: Miro 3.5.1

    Pros

It is open source so you don't get all of the unwanted adverts displayed like you do with Real Player. And it is a lot nicer and works better than Real Player. Which crashes quite a lot.

    Cons

Not very well known and the built in web browser just uses the Yahoo search engine,so you cannot just tap in the url you want as if the video is not well known,Miro may not locate it. Or at least not right away.

    Summary

I have had Real Player on both my laptops, until 1 day ago, when I found Miro, this product. I have my own You Tube channel,so I want to put my videos on my website and other video sharing sites. But the problem is although VLC Player will capture the video url and play it in the player. And it will also save the video file on your computer. BUT video sites only accept wmv files and mp3 or flv files and VLC player does not save it in this format. So although on Windows Media Player and VLC player, you can save a video from the Internet on your computer, you cannot upload it to your video site. As the sites won't accept the format which is xspf which sites do not except. So until today,if I wanted to capture and save my videos to share on my other sites. I had to use Real Player and also Real Alternative does not work on Windows 7, my system. But Real Player crashes a lot and is slow and is full of unwanted media adverts making it look unappetizing. And although the new version of Real Player 14 is better than the previous version. The previous version Real Player11 was terrible and always crashed. This version does not so much and you can now use it without going onto a web browser. Well, you could with Real Player 11,when it did not stop working! And I and a lot of other Windows users put up with all of this because there is not any choice of video players that will download AND convert videos into flv files and so we needed Real Player. But not anymore! MIRO this product will download videos from the web in the player that has a built in web browser, that I think is Firefox based so it is fast. And Miro will download and convert videos into flv files and save them on your computer and play them in the player as well. You can also play the downloaded videos in your other players,VLC player for example. But unlike RP Miro uses the torrent download that is used in DOWNLOAD HELPER,the Firefox add on. But I have tried Downloadhelper to and Download it all. But they don't download all of the video and many videos were broken. That is a 5 minute video only played 1 second as the rest of the video did not download. BUT with Miro it downloads all of the video and the Miro player plays it in is much nicer than Real Player. And to use the settings in Miro I did not even have to look at the help guide I was able to choose my preferences where to save my files without any problems. Miro like VLC player plays your existing webcam made videos, videos from the web and coverts them into files like Real Player does and plays voicmails mp3s as well. But unlike real Player it never has crashed on me yet and is more user friendly than Real Player. You cannot download videos from withing Firefox web browser like in real Player. But then you don't need to, as Miro has its own web browser that searches the web and then you just click on start download under the video and tha'ts all there is to it.As far as I know there are no other media players that will download and convert a video from the web except for Real Player and Real Alternative which we cannot install in Windows 7. But now there is Miro which does it all and better than Real Player and it also stores less space on your hard drive than Real Player. So what are you waiting for if you have problems with real Player or it is just not working properly as is the most common problem. My advice-dump real Player and get Miro instead-you won't regret it.I know that I will never go back to real Player or have to mess about with browser add ons that do not work, now that I have got Miro. I love this product and I am very impressed with it. It has an attractive red desktop and browser theme icon too. Andrea Borman.

    "Great video/torrenting program"

    December 12, 2010  |   By JTod94

    Version: Miro 3.5.1

    Pros

-Torrenting speeds at least at par or even higher with uTorrent/BitTorrent
-Great way to discover new video on the web
-Ability to browse, download, and watch a video, all in one go - even from YouTube!

    Cons

While its torrenting side is very fast, it does not provide enough capabilities for torrenting, such as selecting certain files for a torrent to download, creating a torrent, and so on. In this instance, it's best to double Miro with another client

    Summary

Recommend it to everyone - it helps you connect to the web's great video content. Allows you to browse, download, and watch videos all in one program, without the clutter of having left over torrent files. While Miro lacks on its torrenting side in features and capabilities, it's built-in video player is excellent - you'll find it will replace your default player.

Overall, this is a must-have product for the die-hard video or movie torrenter, and for those who love internet television and movies

    "NO SECURITY!!!!"

    May 13, 2010  |   By stevils

    Version: Miro 3.0.1

    Pros

-It compiles a broad array of entertainment into one application.
-It can play a variety of formats

    Cons

-The 'REPORT a BUG' uses an invalid site certificate. Usually sign of malfeasance
-Miro uses an inherently insecure IE8 engine.
    -No script block plug-in
    -No flashblock plugin
    -Spam is rampant

    Summary

This application is great for pod casts but DO NOT use it for playing online video or visiting sites to catch up on your TV viewing. It is better to use a secured browser like Firefox with Flashblock and Script block installed. Miro will not even block pop-ups. You are going back to the late 90's where websites got free reign, the was no site certificates and web pages could crash your browser regularly.

I ***GUARANTEE*** you will catch mal-ware while using this product to watch online videos.
