"Great if you want simple conversions"

    December 16, 2011  |   By bretw1t

    Version: Miro Video Converter 2.4

    Pros

    Easy to use
    No Adware/nagware
really free, not a program that teases you
    Lots of preset file types

    Cons

Only one file at a time
_only_ preset file types (no customizing)

    Summary

I just needed a quick way to take MOV files taken with my iPhone and convert them to MP4 videos that could be played by an Android tablet. This fit the need. The cons (listed above) are so minor to me that I still give it 4.5 stars. Very easy to use, and it doesn't nag you to upgrade to a "pro" version. I highly recommend this utility if your video conversion needs are simple.

"Nice, easy to use tool. Not feature rich."

    June 16, 2010  |   By pfc432

    Version: Miro Video Converter 2.4

    Pros

It's easy to like it, as it offers a few-clicks alternative to convert to different formats. IT lets you choose from "profiles" for each device, so you don't have to deal with complicated ocnfigurations or codecs.

    Cons

It isn't very customizable, doesn't allow for transcoding to anything apart from the predefined profiles. Is's not for advanced users or those seeking fine-grained settings.

    Summary

I don't realy use this product, as I find there are better tools for everything it does. I use Handbrake and SUPER with many codecs and tools like ffmpeg that it installs by default for all my trnascoding needs. Handbrake also provides profiles for the iPod and other devices, but lets you better customize the settings (like resolution, bitrate, codecs uses, number of passes, etc). However I think Miro Video Converter is a nice tool for many people because it's utterly simple to use and it also lets you convert to Ogg Theora and WebM formats, not commonly found on other transcoding tools.

    "Not enough Video Formats/Codecs/Devices!"

    April 20, 2010  |   By EclipseWebJS2

    Version: Miro Video Converter 1.3

    Pros

Compatible with Windows 7. Big Whoop!

    Cons

This program will not convert into MP4 formats, neither will it convert into an xvid/MP3 into an AVI container, and it doesn't have any supportive codecs and functions to convert videos to make it playable in the Nintendo Wii's Photo Channel!

    Summary

Don't download this unless you want it to waste disk space or own devices which I DON'T HAVE (iPod, Droid, HTC Hero, PSP, etc.) I've been trying to convert videos to stuff through my slow 128k upload speed, and this is certainly not usable to convert "local" media at this point.
