Mint Personal Finance gives you access to all of your finances on your mobile device, so you can check balances and verify transactions on the go. You need to set up an account on Mint.com and enter all of your financial information in order to use the app.

Pros

Budgeting tools: Through this app, you can categorize your transactions to see how much you're spending in different areas like Groceries, Utilities, Clothing, Entertainment, and more. With this information entered in, you can begin to set budgets for different categories based on your past spending trends and your current financial goals. Once you have budgeted amounts in place for each category, you can see at a glance how much you have left available to spend in each category for the month.

Visual presentation: This app presents financial information in different ways to make it easy to process and understand. You can see pie charts and bar graphs of your spending, as well as color-coded budget categories to let you know when you're approaching your limits and when you've gone over.

Alert options: You can also set up email alerts for things like a low account balance or a budget limit exceeded, so you don't even have to worry about obsessively checking your accounts or the app. This is a great tool to help you avoid overdraft charges, as well as to help you keep on track spending-wise each month.

Cons

One month only: While the budgeting tools are great, they only let you set the budget for the current month. It would be nice if you could plan things out a few months ahead to get a better sense of the bigger picture.

Bottom Line

Mint Personal Finance runs smoothly and provides easy access to all features through an intuitive and attractive interface. It's a great way to check in on your finances on the go, especially if you want to see how much you have left to spend on certain types of items while you're out and about. The app is free, and you can set a passcode to restrict access to it in case your phone is lost or stolen.
