"Amazing, it will recover even on vmware!"

    March 30, 2012  |   By whshockey2000

Version: MiniTool Power Data Recovery Free Edition 6.6

    Pros

Absolutely amazing! If you just deleted something and emptied the trash, youre still good!I recovered past partitions, not that I needed them but this tool is sweet. Today, I deleted a backup of My Documents of my virtual server. There is no windows recovery for this. So I installed MiniTool and recovered it within an hr.

    Cons

None. It should be sold to a bigger company to become more well known.

"Never seen anything like it so in an efficient"

    March 25, 2012  |   By andrefdo

Version: MiniTool Power Data Recovery Free Edition 6.6

    Pros

I want through this e-mail trying to express my amazement with this application. Never seen anything like it, so in an efficient and accurate program. Really amazingly! Indeed, if today I were able to acquire a license, had already been done. Unfortunately the value of it in my currency makes it impossible to acquire at the time, but in the near future is guaranteed purchase. But if you have a promotion not steal up to inform me ... hehehe!

    congratulations MiniTool Solution

    Cons

    Really amazingly!

"Not free in the true sense of the"

    March 23, 2012  |   By KingMango

Version: MiniTool Power Data Recovery Free Edition 6.6

    Pros

It seemed to do a thorough job. I looked at many of the files in the 300+ gigs I lost due to a partition error and saw much of what I was going to miss. I look in the lost folder that they say can not be recovered and did not even recognize the files so it would have been a good service but...

    Cons

It is NOT free. I trusted Cnet up until today. This program belongs to a suite of different versions. They push this home version as being free, and nowhere did I see a quota limit until after the operation when I was forced to double-check whether I downloaded a free program. But here's what happens. You download install and run the software. It took about 12 hours to analyze a 500 GB HD that had over 300 GB of data on it. Once the analysis is done, you get a window showing you a reconstruction of the file structure it is able to recover. You try to recover and you can't until you activate the product through their website. OK, no problem there. More than reasonable. They send you an email, with a link that you must visit to get the activation. OK some fancy security I guess. Once you enter the key, you are informed that you have a ONE MEGABYTE quota. That's right. ONE M E G A byte. I didn't see any mention of quota anywhere before downloading. Hugely disappointed in this approach.

    Summary

They should have been up front about this just being a test run piece of software and I would be giving them money right now. But as it stands, the deliberate obscuring of the true functionality of the program prevents me from giving my money to what I deem to be a business that employs dishonesty. I've looked around and see now that there is no such thing as a free data recovery tool (so far that I can see) which makes sense as they pretty much have you by the short-hairs. And there are also a few more that try to hide the fact that you can only recover a MB or so of data. But some are quite open about it and that is where I will be spending my money.

"Surprisingly fast; does what it says!"

    March 14, 2012  |   By skaizun

Version: MiniTool Power Data Recovery Free Edition 6.6

    Pros

After scanning the partition/drive, which was surprisingly fast, it gives a directory tree of all folders that have at least one recoverable file in it. I had five files that I accidentally deleted in three different directories/folders, and all five were recovered, perfectly.

    Cons

Searches the entire partition/drive rather than letting you select which folder you want, but, its speed makes up for that.

    Summary

There are five different functions, per its description. I tried only the Undelete function, and was very satisfied with it, per the above.

I'm curious about the CD/DVD recovery: Is it for rewriteable discs only, or will it copy the recovered files onto your computer, or does it need to copy the entire disc onto your computer . . . ? But, I don't need that, right now, so, it's a mystery to be solved at a future date! ;)
