"Great, Easy, Free, and it works!!"

    September 21, 2010  |   By dadanox

    Version: Mikogo 3.0.2

    Pros

Mikogo sits in your toolbar ready to start a session at any time. It's super easy without a lot of quiestions. You can email a link or tell the person you are supporting. You can also set preferences for who controls who's screen first, etc.

    Cons

No cons for a free support tool that you can use personally or as a business.

    Summary

I have access to a WebEx account for support purposes, but Mikogo is easier to use. The user runs an executable, so in IE, they simply have to open the file. There is no requirement to keep a browser running. You can tell the user what the session number is, or email him a link that will fill it in for them.

I set my preferences to "view & control another's screen" as the initial start option, and set Quality to Max Speed.

The user does get a popup when you disconnect, asking them if they want a Mikogo ID. You can tell them to simply close that window, or avoid it by rebooting the user when you are done with support.

"Great product--easy to use and free!"

    January 14, 2010  |   By johnar_1

    Version: Mikogo 3.0

    Pros

    Easy install.
Easy to learn in a very short time.
Quick response for both host and remote.
Does most everything that other collaboration/screen sharing software does.
Easy for my clients to understand with one quick installation.

    Cons

    No chat features.
No feature for emailing session ID--must use phone.

    Summary

This product does everything our small company needs, which is to assist clients with updating their DNN web sites when they get in a jam. We're able to log into their web site and demonstrate exactly what to do, instead of explaining everything over the phone and telling them what part of the page to go to for the proper buttons to push. From a tech support aspect this is AWESOME! Lots fewer headaches for me and a lot less frustration and embarrassment for my clients. If I want additional features I can always buy the full package which is still reasonably and lower priced in comparison to others.

"Very useful to assist the "technology challenged"."

    March 2, 2009  |   By maoneal1

    Version: Mikogo 2.0.3.090210

    Pros

Easy to setup and run, fairly stable, works with multiple OS's, FREE!

    Cons

Can lag a bit during peak use periods, no built in voice or IM capability, sometimes freezes and just stops working and must be restarted.

    Summary

I got this program to help mine and my wife's parents with computer problems after becoming frustrated trying to "talk them through it" over the phone. Now, I can just show them how to do something as they view my screen or I can take over and operate their machines by remote control...very nifty and a great time and energy saver. I use it in conjunction with Skype VOIP audio so I can talk while I am doing. Almost like being there unless you have to restart their computer to accomplish a task in which case you must set up another Mikogo session after the computer has restarted. I realy like the "whiteboard" feature which allows me to "draw" on their screen in order to point out something easier. Overall, a very useful program if you have assumed the role of amateur "tech support".

    January 4, 2009  |   By Wilman4g

    Version: Mikogo 1.02

    Pros

FREE, Easy to use, No nag software, 256 bit encryption, very easy for guest to sign on, FREE

    Cons

Only 10 users at a time. <--- i don't mind this at all

    Summary

I use this software to show my parents how to use their computer all the time. tell them to log on, and show them what they have to do to get things done on their computer. One i think they got it, switch presenters to them. Then watch as they do it themselves.

    "Better than goto or logmein"

    September 29, 2008  |   By chad633

    Version: Mikogo 1.02

    Pros

FREE! 256 bit end to end encryption, small size, not a resource hog, almost real time display, easy to use and did I mention it's FREE!

    Cons

    limit of 10 users

    Summary

bottom line is this, for a free program it does what it says it does. It works, it's simple, and there are no monthly fees to use it like gotomeeting or logmein, you are limited to 10 users, but for most people that's not a problem. Handy little tool for anyone who does presentations or remote support.

"For a free software, it's not bad...."

    October 11, 2007  |   By dakedo_baby

    Version: Mikogo 1.0.070606

    Pros

Considering that this software is free, it's actually not too bad. The controls were very easy (standard presentation, changing who was in control, and the switching of presenters), and she ran relatively smooth. It's not WebEx - not by a long shot. But it's a PRETTY GOOD first attempt. And I think for a lot of people and businesses, this may be good enough for them.

Overall, I would/ will continue to use this program.

    Cons

Well, it's limited to only 10 connections. This *may* limit it's business exposure if they are thinking about using it.
