"Forget it..."
Version: Microsoft Sidewinder Game Controller Software 3.02
Summary
If Microsoft can't even support their product, then who will? Not compatible with Windows 2000. Also incredibly hard to get working on Windows 98.

"XP Users BEWARE!"
Version: Microsoft Sidewinder Game Controller Software 3.02
Summary
I thought the point of updating your operating system was to allow for products to be integrated more easily than in prior releases. There are no sidewinder drivers available for xp, nor does microsoft plan to release any. So this means you can't configure the profile manager for your games, and therefore have to go and buy a new product. Looks like I'll be going with Logitech in the future. Note to Bill Gates: Support your own products, you definately have a different opinion of compatability than I do.

"Microsoft ... Again"
Version: Microsoft Sidewinder Game Controller Software 3.02
Summary
I've had my sidewinder for quite some time now. It worked fine until the wonderful windowsXP got itself corrupted through all the patching and updates, had to re-format my drives, lost all the software that WORKED BEFORE, Imagine my surprise when I Tried to download an updated version for my gamepad, and it tells me it no longer supports XP (thier newest OS, but supports the older OS systems???? Two words sum this up Corperate Greed, Trust me if my favorite stuff worked outside windows, I wouldn't bother putting any more money into gate's pockets.

"Wrath Of Khan is full of it. The profile software will not work in XP."
Version: Microsoft Sidewinder Game Controller Software 3.02
Summary
Regardless of the silly comments made by Wrath Of Khan, the software will not even install, much way work, in Win 2000 or Win XP. This is rediculous, considering the product is not old, and is made by the same company that makes the operating system it is to be used on. If someone would be willing to hold Bill Gates down, I would be more than glad to kick his money hungry butt! :)

"Microsoft doesn't support Microsoft????"
Version: Microsoft Sidewinder Game Controller Software 3.02
Summary
Have the Microsoft Force Feedback joystick (gameport). Tried to install on my new XP computer and the drivers aren't available. The XP site says to contact the mfr and ask for XP drivers to be developed/posted. HAH!! The Microsoft Sidewinder site says no XP drivers planned.
Hey Microsoft, learn something about customer service and support please. -

"DO NOT use this software on XP"
Version: Microsoft Sidewinder Game Controller Software 3.02
Summary
As you are all probably aware, Version 3 is meant for 95/98 ONLY. I have version 4. Although it is also written for 98 (which it warns before installing it), I have installed it on XP and haven't had any problems at all. I have contacted Microsoft asking them for an XP update but was told that the whole Sidewinder range is now discontinued (and has been for some months now), and they will no longer be releasing any more updates.....great - Thanks Microsoft! So although I bought my wheel 18 months ago, around the same time XP was released, they don't support it. 18 months later, they are still selling the same Sidewinder controller on the shelves...along with the same insatllation disc I have.
But hey, Version 4 appears to work fine, so I'm happy....for now anyway!!!
