    2 years without antivrus and still infection free.

    (safe browsing habits = the best antivirus on the market)

    I use to share this mentality and it is somewhat true but still flawed. All it takes is that one slip up and you are spending the next set of hours cleaning up an infection. Happened to me when I was infected with the rogue antivirus malware. Don't know how I got infected, I didn't download anything or visit any unusual website. My suspicion is it came from a bad ad on one of the regular websites I visited. Had I been running antivirus software, the infection could have easily been prevented.

    I always run antivirus software now. While it's true getting an infection is rare if you are smart and careful, I find it's better to be safe than sorry.

    i scan with multiple on-demand scanners every 5-6 months :P
