Version: Microsoft Office Communicator 2005 1.0
"Try something else."
Pros: Gui looks good
Cons: First pain point. No options for tabed chatting. Why do I need 15 windows for 15 chats. Bloatware. List of "participants" in the wrong spot. Has vary little useful options. I can hide the Instant message area, but not the "participants" Huh???
Summary: I'm not very impressed with this product. On the surface it looks neat. However, it's not very configurable. Though one option I do like. It can automatically pause playback of windows media player when in video conference. However, it's still not very useful to me since I don't use that app either, but it still is a nifty feature. This thing doesn't really conform to anything I've seen so far. It has no tabbed chatting. So if I'm carrying on several conversations.. I have about 50 thousand widows open. Such a waist of memory. The thing flashes each time someone types something. Though I think this can be turned off.... well, let me rephrase, I hope it can be turned off. Either way, yet another pain point. No spell checking. I've seen several apps with even grammar checking. This has no support for either. No plug-ins!? oh... yeah... The list of users is on top.... wow.. such a waist of space. Names are what.... 100 pixles long or so.... so why take up 50% or more of the screen for a 100 pixle long name. Put the "participants" on the right or the left. Efficiency Microsoft! Efficiency! Something you have never been good at. Basically the app is WYSIWYG.
