"Not so sure about the upgrades"
Version: Microsoft Office 2010 14.0.6009.1000
Pros
Same old reliable Microsoft.
Cons
I hate the new tool bars. I liked the tool bar to the side, I don't like how it does it up top now.
Summary
I just got it, but I don't really see anything new that they have added. They just switched around the tool bar display which to be honest I don't like as much as the older version.

"Grossly overpriced"
Version: Microsoft Office 2010 14.0.6009.1000
Pros
It works...
Cons
Ridiculously overpriced. Microsoft's greed will eventually be their downfall.
Summary
There are free alternatives suitable for most home users, like Google docs or Open Office.

"This Product sucks"
Version: Microsoft Office 2010 14.0.6009.1000
Pros
I don't see any compared tp office 2003
Cons
I went though the history of Office from the beginning. Originally I could see benefita in every new generation. But starting with 2007 things got worse.
Summary
I hate the Banners. They slow you down tremendously.
I wrote Macros for many little procedures which is now a desaster to do. But worst of all. Till office 2003 you hat a backward link from your graphs to the values in the table. This is for me the most impotant feature. This is gone now and so I have to stick with 2003.
I cannot believe why somebody make a fine product bad and claim it to be an improvement. -
"to reiterate it is the bvusiness/academic standard"
Version: Microsoft Office 2010 14.0.6009.1000
Pros
my first experience was with Office `07 and thought it to be very user friendly considering that a newbie like myself was able to quickly learn the basics and w/o too much pain and suffering, the more advanced features.2010 is a more polished version
Cons
I did not find it to be a big enough upgrade from `07 to justify the $.
Summary
Im an online student who essentially wears out Word & have become somewhat proficient in my 3+ years of writing papers for school.I recently tried out `10 & found it to be extremely similar, for my uses not really worth the $.Word has added an aspect of grammar proofing that kept stating my writing was "passive" & I should consider revising. I know I should take the advice and improve my writing but making what seemed to be adequate changes still brought about the "passive" grammar notification and got to be somewhat irritating. With all of that said I still prefer either `07 or `10 versions over what little experience I have with with `03 and would recommend the upgrade if anyone has been holding out. As stated in my "cons" post I will probably wait for the next version which seems to be going the way of the cloud as most other software is heading. Hope this helps someone.
