    "Did they make it faster?"

    Version: Microsoft Office 2008 12.1.0

    Summary

Does this update make any of the apps FASTER?

They are slower than Office 2004!!!!!!!!! PATHETIC!!!!!!! I came to the conclusion MS ordered the MacBU to make 2008 slow. Plain and simple. Why would a native version be slower than an emulated version, especially when as far as I can tell, they haven't added any new features, except a stupid toolbar which is less useful?

I really liked Office X and 2004. 2008, after losing VBA, getting slower, and having a crappier interface, is really, really unimpressive. I think they should pay us to use it, not the other way around. If anyone has 2004 and is thinking about upgrading: don't.

    Love the 180MBs
Adore the worse performance after the update..

Especially love the Sentence containing "including fixes for vulnerabilities that an attacker can use to overwrite the contents of your computer's memory with malicious code"

On a Mac!!! Geez thanks Microsoft I see you are affecting the integrity of not only IBM Clones but Macs' now..

Still the mac version is definitely better than the new IBM Clone version, all the office staff at a place I temp at sometimes, have gone from pretty proficient in MSO to -> what the hell is going on, and where do I find that and how the hell do I do this now..

So backward it's gotta make you smile ;)

    "Speeds up launch times.."

    Summary

I have an Mac Pro 8 Core and Word was taking 30 seconds to launch. Since the update, launch times hover at or around 20 seconds or less. Still not as fast as 2004 in Rosetta, but an improvement to be sure.

Thankfully, I do not have to use Office too much. There are many alternatives out there. Even Text Edit can open Word docs!

    No problems with installation.
